I remember watching To Hell And Back way too many years ago. If it has ever been broadcast on cable channels, I wouldn't see it because I can't afford them. I will check it out on Netflix, as it definitely is worth watching again - he was a MAJOR HERO! So glad you created this Memorial Website. We should never forget the sacrifices of our Military. I have always been a big fan of his. I am 52 about to be 53 and my dad told me about him as we watched one of his movies. His story still inspires me and many others. There should be another movie made of his life today for the current generation. Thank you and the others of that great generation and their families... May God Bless you and your heirs, Amen. My father, Clifford Belt, along with eight other siblings were from Farmersville and knew Audie. My aunt Zelma Belt Brooks stayed with me in 2005-2006 after hurricane Katrina destroyed her house in Pass Christian, Ms. and showed me where many people lived, or general area since some are no longer there, she was 83 at the time but sharp as a tack. I served in the 3rd Infantry Division during the 1990's, Audie Murphy is held as the ultimate soldier, and rightly so. I am very pleased to find this website and how it represents one of the greatest US heros. Thank you for making it possible for me to share this American treasure with my young children, and for reminding me of pride felt in the name Audie Murphy..... Audie Murphy has been my real-life hero since boyhood,
particularly after seeing him in his autobiographical film,
"To Hell and Back".
After that, he appeared in around 40 films, most were westerns.
Due to his severe circumstances of so much combat, after WWII, he always slept with a pistol and had frequent nightmares which reflected of those experiences.
RIP, Soldier and eternal thanks for your courageous
service to this country and the World!!!
