i truly enjoy learning about audie murphy, im am currently competing to join the highly established audie murphy club, but its difficult as an infantry squad leader currently stationed in afghanistan to balance studying and taking care of my men,but i am truly thankful for the opportunity to attempt to join the AMC, his bravery, tenacity, and true heroism is something i take pride in teaching to my soldiers! I have admired Audie Murphy ever since I first saw the movie "To Hell and Back". His exploits during his military days were an example of a true hero, which I am sure has had a lasting effect on many of our service men and women of today. I am glad to be a part of this site by adding my comments. Thank you! Added: November 7, 2012

My husband James Haltom knew Audie in the 60's. His dad worked on Audie's cars/trucks in Texas. My husband was about 13 or 14 and was terribly shy. Audie would talk to him for hours under a oak tree and even went for a ride on horseback with him on the ranch. He made a big impression on James. We watch every movie that comes on with Audie in it. I only wish I could have met him. What a hero. You can see in the movies how kind and gentle he was. My husband is a retired vet and knows how special Audie was. Thanks for putting this website up. There are some of us who really appreciate what you've done to keep his memory alive.
God bless you.
