I was participating in an annual training conducted where I work in one of California's Correctional Institutions. Most of my coworkers were custody officers, many who have military backgrounds. Average age was probably in or close to 40 years of age. The presenter put up a picture of Audie Murphy asking the class if anyone knew who he was. Sadly I was the only person to raise my hand.

I.grew up always admiring his courage. I also enjoyed his movies as a kid and even now as an older adult.
I told my children and grandchildren about him and what a great hero he was.

Just finished watching "To Hell and Back" and had to say "thank you " to the spirit of Audie Murphy for his galantry in WW2. I pray many young men walk in his shadow. Thank you also to all the men and women of all the wars. May GOD bless USA

This is a wonderful website. I've been a fan of Audie Murphy for years and have a number of his films. I never thought I'd see his complete military file. That came as a complete surprise and it says a lot about the man. This death was especially tragic and it was very unfortunate. May he rest in peace.
