I am a history enthusiast. Retired from the USAF I was stationed in Japan and Germany and have become increasingly interested in WWII, I enjoy watching old movies and recently watched To Hell and Back, and am researching Comrade Murphy's life and service. I am also the Commander of Haverhill memorial post 5245 Veterans of Foriegn Wars. Obviously Mr. Murphy was a man of superior caliber and great deeds, I would have very much liked to have met him and shared some conversation!

I grew up in the UK watching Audie Murphy on screen and he captivated me. And when I found out about his life before the silver screen, I was even more in awe. His heroic efforts will stabd for all eternity and his underplayed acting ability for even longer.

It's wonderful to know that we had veterans such as Mr. Murphy serving our country. I wish that we had more people like Mr. Murphy.

The first time I saw To Hell and Back I told my father that they should have gotten someone more believable to play the role of Audie Murphy. He very calmly told me, Audie Murphy IS playing Audie Murphy, and you cannot get more believable than that. How such a young man could show such concern for his men and his nature that he would repeatedly risk his life is so exceptional that it would be hard to believe under any other guise.

I always enjoy watching his movies and recently realised the war movie i watched was his life story and wanted to know if he had managed to get his brothers and sisters back. He always seems so normal with his hidden core of caring for others.
