Comment:
I have nominated Audie Murphy to the American Quarter Horse Association Hall of Fame. Audie was a good horseman and breeder of AQHA Racing Quarter Horses. I purchased the quarter race horse Audie bred, Bull Run and spoke to Audie a few days before the plane crash. I had Bull Run until he died. I have pictures of Audie on his stallion, Joe Queen. I work with the Warrior Wellness Foundation (equine assisted learning) at the US Air Force Academy Pine Valley Ranch. BJB Added: December 22, 2015

After many years I am coming forward that I own a 22 short rifle that Audie and my dad used to hunt small game in the Farmersville area in the early 30's I believe. My dad toiled me many stories about the rifle when I was young. I am of Irish decent and all of my family is from the Farmersville area who were cotton pickers with the Murphy family. I spoke to Audie's sister many years ago when she was in her late eighties but seemed to be in a good mind. I spoke to her about my Grandmother who was on a picture with one of their family members who I needed to identity. She was a great help. I mentioned how proud I was that Audie was was a great hero for us but she cut me off short and said that she also had a brother that was equally a hero. (i knew this to be true that he was a Texas HP officer killed on duty.) I acknowledged his service as well and apologized for being one minded. This gun will never leave my sight. It is still in excellent condition which I shoot occasionally and will hand down to my son one day. God bless Added: December 20, 2015

In 1949 Audie was invited to become an honorary Cadet Colonel by Texas A & M. He accepted and came as the honored guest at the first all branch Military Ball. He stayed at the old Aggieland Inn across the the street from Sabisa Hall.
At a Corp Review, the day of the ball, Audie was presented with the 4-Diamond bar of a Corp Commander. He was escorted to the reviewing box and the Corp marched in review. Many field grade officers, General and below had accepted our invitation and participated.
Much assistance was received from Tiger Teague.
