I learned about Audie Murphy as a small child from my dad. Shortly after, I saw the film "To Hell and Back" on a rainy Saturday afternoon. I can't tell you the admiration I felt at that moment! I have the book by the same name

I Lived 2 doors north of him at 6247 Orion Ave. Van Nuys, Calif. I Delivered his newspaper"54/55" Maj Murphy visited the 3rd Inf Div. in Germany, "66/68" to explain his military svc. with the 3rd Inf. in Europe. I was stationed with the 2nd Bn, 30th Inf., 3rd Inf. Div. in Schweinfurt at the time as a S/SGT. 1965-1968 and saw him a couple of times. He was very opened minded and friendly and remembered my being his newspaper boy.I was also a member of the 512th MP Co. at Ft Huachuca, AZ. in 1959. He was a great man, soldier & Heroic American.
