Only learned of Audie in recent years. We've even got a small part of town and a park named after him but it didn't occur to me to look the name up. Apparently he owned some of that land. Actually, hearing of him came mostly from the internet, so I don't think that's been a negative for hearing about people like him. Going to look up that movie he did where he played himself in the war.

I looked up the website on Audie to find out how he
passed. I remember him as an actor and his status as a war
hero. I did not know how he died I was busy and out of
touch in 1971 getting through Marine Corp boot Camp. I
would like to see more people aware and more education for
our children on our great veterans and heroes like Audie Murphy.

I never really knew of Audie Murphy until several movies I saw him in and looked up his name. Why such an accomplished war hero and later actor almost forgotten?

Mr. Audie Murphy, you are the best that America has ever known. If anyone deserved the Medal of Honor... that would be you. You have left your impression with the United States because of your tremendous efforts to free the world of the Nazi's back in WWII. Your contribution to America was the willingness to put the interest and well-being of others, higher than your own. Hopefully, your name will be known in history books forever. Thank you for your service and may you be reunited with your brothers-in-arms up in heaven. Go get em', Audie. PS... My father Edward was also an Army soldier from WWII. He took three machine gun bullets and ended up in six VA hospitals for ten months and he was proud to serve his country.
