I've befriended childhood friend and playmate of the Murphy boys when they lived in Farmersville TX. John Curington, who became personal atty for HL Hunt, told of a time the boys were having BB gun fights and he hit Audie right between the eyes at the bridge of his nose. One of the boys mother had to dislodge the BB with a spoon, leaving the indentation seen in photographs. I told Mr. Curington I was grateful he didn't hit him in the eye and blind him, or we would be speaking German or Japanese, rather than English. Added: June 23, 2021

I've known about Audie since I was a little girl since my Dad served in WWII. He was in another theater of the war. Not in European. He was in CBI & flew as a crew member in the Flying Tigers. I greatly admire Mr Murphy. He must have been a very courageous man. I wish there were more like him for our youngsters to look up to. May God rest his soul & grant him peace. Added: June 20, 2021

Being born in 62 in Memphis Tennessee the first 8 years of my life we lived with my grandparents, this is where my love for the old westerns came from, my granddaddy. I have carried this passion for 50+ years and have pasted along to my own children. Audie Murphy was my favorite, so I have read about him many times, I guess mostly to refresh my memory of him, but also I guess to see if anything else has ever been brought to public attention that has never been told before. Always will I reckon. RIP Mr. Audie Murphy and thank you so very much for your sacrifices and entertainment you have given to our great country and especially for myself God Bless you Sir Added: June 19, 2021 Powered by PHP Guestbook - brought to you by PHP Scripts
