I love his movies. My son Taylor served 4 years in the Marines. He and I were watching one of Audie's movies. When I told him about Audie, he did not believe me. He looked it up, and said he was one hell if a soldier. Yeah, and I said he is sadly forgotten by our country. Wiki talks about his financial problems without any details. What a disaster Wikipedia is and what damage they continue to do to conservatives and patriots.

Sad to say I have just recently discovered Audie Murphy, but after reading the story I see why. However, my husband is a huge western fan and I would always say, who is that guy. I have become a fan and I have searched the web reading about him. Not only was he great on screen but in real life too, now that's a real hero!

I'm a retired Marine officer, work in Greenville, TX and visited the Audie Murphy American Cotton Museum. I've read his auto biography, and watched several of his films, and I'm always interested in history and the great America hero's who shaped our great nation.

As a youngster, my idol was not Roy or Gene, but Audie Murphy. I grew up to spend 10 years active duty in the U S Army, in CONUS, RVN, and USAEUR. In Viet Nam, I was an RTO(shoot the guy with the radio first)with a recon platoon.

Audie's devotion to duty, to those he served and to those he led were always my motivation to succeed when things got 'dicey'.

I am glad that he lived and wish he had lived much longer. I guess God takes his favorites first.

Can do! Will do! Hurray for the infantry!

I've always enjoyed watching his movies with my dad. On Father's Day this year they were playing one movie after another, I didn't know why at the time, (it was his birthday) but I was so happy to see them. I remember when my son was at basic training in Ft. Benning, Georgia and we went to the infantry museum and my son told me all about Audie Murphy. Though he is sorely missed, I'm glad that he doesn't have to see the country he fought so valiantly for going to Hell in a handbasket. God Bless our military!
