I was 17 years old when Audie Murphy died. I had never read any accounts of Audie's Military
Service and his Gallantry. He was largely known to me only as a Movie Star and personality.
Reading his service and awards records complete the picture of a very special Man. The Nation owes him it's love and gratitude not only for his heroism but for being the genuine Man he appeared to be later in life.
May the succeeding generations never forget this special Man.

My ten year old son had to do a presentation on someone who changed the world. He chose Audie Murphy. My dad, a native Texan, told him Audie's story and it stuck with him. No one in my son's class knew who Audie was. We watched To Hell and Back and he researched his life. He dressed in authentic WWII equipment and told them all about Audie. I hope the children learned about him and will keep his legacy alive. My son got an A!
