I was a big fan of Murphy as a solder & as an actor. I didn't know until today that he was a successful song writer. I read more about him in Wick...com. I thought I knew a lot about him. Sadly, as with so many today, I wasn't aware of the depth of his heroism. When I was stationed at Fort Belvior in the early '70s, I visited his grave. Although there was a walkway up to his grave, I was a bit discouraged it wasn't fancier. I learned today that was what he wanted. When I took my family to D.C. around '90. I wanted to show them his grave over Kennedy's. Kennedy was a war hero, too. I wasn't a fan of Kennedy; I was of Audie. It is sad that for all that did for America in the war, that there wasn't much we could do to help his tortured life of depression.

I am proud to find and sign the guestbook for this great American soldier. I am a 16 year veteran of the U. S. Army, a Vietnam veteran and have heard about and known about Audie Murphy's military service all my life. I have seen the movie about his war exploits many times and am proud to have served in the same Army as did he. A true hero and great American.

I discovered Audie Murphy by watching his westerns in the late 1960's and early 1970's. I've read everything I could about him, and brought and read two books To Hell Back (the one he assisted with) and Hero. I was a member of his fan club in the 90's. Thank you for your service to this county. Gone way to soon but not forgotten. RIP.

growing up in the '50s we had our sports hero..but Audie Murphy ranked at the top of our idols list. What a brave, honorable man. A man whose history should never be on the back burner or forgotten. This country has his cache of so-called heros, but none can compare to Audie.

While both my brother and I served in the US Army,He served under the 3rd US INF, old guard. He walked Cap horse for many years and apparently did such an admirable job that his nick name was Audie. He will tell you like I will today. He could never accept that honor. No man could fill Audie's shoes. He is the man we all should aspire to be. There is a higher calling for those of us that serve. God bless you and those you love.

I visited the memorial in Holtzwihr on March 16, 2013. It was an honor to have seen this memorial to the American soldiers and Audie Murphy. It made the trip to France even more worthwhile.

I was sitting at th Fire hall the other day and asked my crew if they knew Audi Murphy, only 1 in 6 knew of him.
I was extremely saddened by the lack of knollage that the younger generation has of one of the greatest American heroes and one who gave so much for us all.

I hope my grandchildren will remember this name. His actions should be taught in schools.
