I was born in 1942 and as a child we played either "army" or "cowboy and indian" games. If army - everyone wanted to be Audie Murphy. The story of his army career ("To Hell and Back";) was a favorite.

It is so good to find that there are people who have respect and reverence for the service and courage
once rendered by a young American boy who in a time
of the worlds great need, excelled above and beyond
the call, in a Just Cause.
Young men like Audie,Alvin York and others of their
like, are a rare and precious national beacon, who's
light must shine a way for young men of tomorrow

i am glad for this web site so we do not forget the sacrifices made by Audie Murphy and all veterans. The news and culture of today make heroes with stunts and computer enhanced gimmicks.Audie Murphy and his army brothers lived through horrible and extreme real war conditions. The world maybe a different place if not for there courage and strength.I will always remember Audie Murphy as a great hero,he risked it all for us.

I have always had the utmost respect for Mr. Murphy since my parents told me about his heroism during WWII.
My father was also in this war so when he told me stories I learned of what the brave men of our nation did and am so grateful for the sacrifice they made. I hope Audie found some happiness here on earth and am sure heaven soothed the anguish he endured here. God Bless him and all the men who fight for us.
