I just watched the DVD "To Hell and Back." Got a little misty-eyed for a second at the passing of Sgt. Murphy's mom. Had some laughs, especially when on the ship overseas, and the other guy blew cigar smoke in his face. But, throughout the entire DVD, I always had in the back of my mind that, when the cameras stopped rolling, the "dead men" probably got up and had a couple of beers. In real life...they don't. I have always been a big fan of Audie and his many movies of my favorite is NIGHT PASSAGE with Jimmy Stewart.I think he is one of the greatest actors we have had in Hollywood the best westerns ever .I as a veteran my self thank him for his service and dedication to veterans.I have an uncle that served 3 1/2 years and landed at Omaha beach on D DAY he was wounded but later got to come home.I thank ALL VETERANS. Audie recreates the original spirit of the 3ID, July 15, 1918 at the junction of the Marne and Surmelin Rivers: the Rock of the Marne. The North Texas Chapter of the Association of the Army has changed its name to "North Texas - Audie Murphy Chapter." Our Chapter used to meet in Dovie's, Audie's old house, until it was closed.
