Comment:
As a kid, I remember watching some of Audie Murphy's westerns on TV, and I recognized then that this guy was spunky, yet humble. Very good actor. Not until I went on a veterans Honor Flight to visit Arlington Cemetery and saw his decorated gravestone, did I realize he was a fellow veteran. I was amazed that he accomplished so much in spite of his tough upbringing and circumstances. After checking his wartime path, I realized that he also served in Sicily, where I was stationed for 2 years. Even though it was different war periods, I've got the greatest respect for someone of his stature. Added: December 7, 2023
Comment:
My brother is off to boot camp to become a Marine, and I wanted to find him some short stories or poems to read (if he even gets a chance to). I was lucky to find this site and learn about Audie. It is a shame he did not hang onto more of his works. Thank you for maintaining this site! Added: November 30, 2023

Amazing story . Watched him in movies as a child. Having no idea of his military background until now how honored I am to know that this man served, fought for our country.
