Thank you for providing this site Audi L. Murphy was a hero to me growing up and will remain a hero to me not for the medals, movies or other above mentioned items of his life, but for the very quite behind the scenes contributions he made to help others be freed from the bonds of poverty. I know little of Audie Murphys life except he was one of those rare people who just kept on plugging away 'till the job was done and was no vein man either with his magnanimous sharing with his unit of credit for his greatest wartime achievements so as well as being a highly efficient soldier he was a really good guy too by the sounds of things, the U.S people must preserve this heroes memory forever. Born in 1939 and blessed with a very wonderful memory from abt. 4 yrs on. I remember the planes flying over our town on training flights out of Sheppard Field. Many crashed as well. My job was to pull my radio flyer wagon around and collect scrap metal. Although young I followed the war as best as I could. I took every dime and bought war bond stamps with it. With help of many who liked what I was doing I owned a 500.00 war bond at the end of WW2. I also read a lot about it later. Audie L. Murphy from Texas has been my LIFETIME HERO. May he NEVER be forgotten by all REAL AMERICANS. I salute you, as a U.S, Navy vet for this web site. Thank Audie L. Murphy you are the TRUE American HERO. Very Respectfully. Clint E. Dickson
