I just finished watching the movie To Hell and Back. I did know that he was an American WWll hero. I have seen some of his western shows but never knew of his military service until now and I am honor to know that . All those medals he received speak loudly of what is inside him. I have finally seen the movie To Hell ANd Back. My grandmother and her sister Genevive Aumont were friends with Audie, they met in the 1940's in Paris,France we have an original 8 by 10 photograph of Genevive and Audie on the Eiffel tower dated 1949 we also have an autograph 8by10 by Audie signed to my grandmother Evlyne. Found the Audie Murphy Memorial Site by accident. It is great that there are people out there keeping Audie Murphy, and who he was, in the know. We need to remember our great American Service Men & Women who serve this great nation. I was in the Air Force during the Viet Nam war and it was an honor to have served. My father was in the Navy and was a 100% disabled American Vetran. My was father, like many other men and women were heros. And their families were proud I am sure. Audie Murphy was a hero for the ages, and should not be forgotten. He is the reason this Nation stands, and stands on solid ground. Added: March 1, 2014

My mother was a big fan of his, so much that I was blessed by being named after him. After learning what he did during WWII I can understand why she was so impressed by him. unfortunately if your not around my age or from the state of Texas then most people have not heard of him. He was the greatest war hero this country has known. Not a bad actor either. Let us never forget the great things he did and the countless lives he save. Added: February 27, 2014

I just thought Audie was the greatest. I seen his movies in the theatres when I was younger. I still watch them on the stations that show old westerns, often times they show them back to back and I am glued to the tube. I hope his sons fared well. He will always be my favorite star. He made Texas proud. Such a shame that he died so young. May he rest in peace, he deserves it. Added: February 25, 2014

Members of the Audie Murphy Website; if you should have a chance to see Audie's grave site in Arlington National Cemetery.Simple and like the other simple white stone monuments for most military personnel buried there. It is under an oak tree and has what honors he received, e.g. CMH. At first the monument does not seem appropriate for a man of Audie's statue, yet this is the way he would have wanted.
