Comment:
I grew up watching his movies. The first one I saw was "To Hell And Back" at the Twin Lake drive in theatre with my family explaining what a great hero he was. He was a man of honor, integrity and profound character and it came through the silver screen. Thanks for your service Audie and being a great role model. Added: April 26, 2014
Comment:
I'm now 63 years old and my first memories of Audie as a kid where his movies which I loved . Many years later I revisited his movies and was happily surprised that , despite the variability of them , he was a surprisingly good actor . I then found out as much as I could about his war record , even finding a copy of to hell and back and my admiration for him grew proportionally . I have visited his grave at Arlington cemetery , the second most visited grave there , and discovered that some unknown person regularly ensures that a small US flag is there . I understand that he had some failings but his bravery was second to none and his attempts to help veterans is almost as great . When all is said and done he was a great man who deserves to be remembered and is certainly someone I will never forget !
