Comment:
I am a British Normandy Veteran 1944, Sherman tank commander and have written books about those battles. I am now writing another book about 20 outstanding heroes of 1944/5 NorthWest Europe. One chapter features Audie whose war fame is largely forgotten in Britain. I want to revive this. I urgently need a photo of Audie for the book. Please advise me. Many thanks. Comment:
My mother read the article about Audie in Life magazine when she was a teenager. She was so taken and impressed that she vowed to name her first child, if it was a boy, Audie. In February of 1951 I came into the world and was given this name. I carry it proudly, plus the fact that it is unusual, people ask me about it and it gives me the chance to talk about the great man that I was named after. Added: January 21, 2018
