Summary: This is the true story of John Philip Clum, a Federal Indian Agent for the Apaches. Clum, played by Audie Murphy, is sent to try a new method to encourage peace with the Apaches. In the process, he wins the trust of the reservation chiefs and a beautiful Indian widow, played by Ann Bancroft. The Indian widow and her child moves in with Clum to be his housekeeper around the time Clum's fiancee arrives in town. While Clum is trying to deal with the jealous feelings of the two women, he also is attempting to convince Geronimo into surrendering and join the rest of the Indian nation on the reservation. Clum is successful and spends the rest of his life fighting for the welfare of the Indians.
