Summary: Audie portrays a scrappy young boxer from Jersey City named Tommy Shea. A young man from the wrong side of the tracks, he ends up getting noticed by a wealthy industrialist named Robert Mallinson. Mallinson invites Shea to train at his estate. When Shea does, he falls for Mallinson's pretty daughter Dorothy who is played by Barbara Rush. Shea is worried that he doesn't have enough money to support Dorothy in the lifestyle she is accustomed to. To raise money, Shea decides to work for a crooked fight-promoter which means he has to fire his honest manager. As the big fight approaches, Shea begins to have second thoughts about throwing the fight. Shea ends up proving to the world that he is a champion, despite the fact that he is given a terrible beating, while held down, by the crooked fight promoter. In the final scene, Shea's opponent is with the professional boxer Chico Vejar.
