I live north of Paris,Texas about 12 miles and always admired the person of Audie . I always enjoyed his western movies. His contribution to his country is surpassed by no one. I have always admired him and was sadened by his death. Farmersville,Tx. where he grew up is about 60 miles from where I live and when I travel through Greenville,Tx. I am reminded of him when I see the museum built to honor him. He will always be in my memory as a real hero and every american should know what he did for their country during WW11. The second world war should never be forgotten and the lessons learned from it, nor the many heroes such as Mr Murphy who saved the world from Nazi tyranny and allowed us the democratic future that still holds true in many countries to this day...not least Great Britain and our old ally, the United States of America! I am writing this for my grand daughter. She is Audie Murphy's great niece. She is 8 years old. She has been checking out anything that has him name on it. She wanted me to write how proud she is of him and all he did for his country. She really wants to learn more about her uncle. Any ideas? ![]() Added: August 1, 2011 Powered by PHP Guestbook - brought to you by PHP Scripts

Friend, actor, hero. So many names for such a special man...a favorite of mine for many, many years. Today my grandchildren watch To Hell and Back all the time. This year we went to Washington, DC and the Arlington Cemetery. That was the grave my 13 year old grandson couldn't wait to see. He took pictures for his 7 year old brother who loves Audie L. Murphy and has since he was 4 years old. He knows the movie by heart. It saddens me to know so many of the younger generation will never know the heroic part Audie played in WWII. We need to keep history alive, and the men and women who gave their lives, for this country we take for granted. Their memories need to remain alive from generation to generation.
