I grew up watching Audie Murphy movies and knew some tid bits of information but not the actual number of medals or what they were called.

I do remember hearing and seeing his picture in a news paper of his death but little else was said of him at tha time.

To the country he was a great hero, but to me he was a great movie star that I always looked up too.
