Comment:
I am a British military veteran (served in the Army 1975-2009) and knew of Audie Murphy in my teens, watching several of his films including 'To Hell and Back'. I am absolutely shocked to read on your excellent website that Audie's name and incredible exploits have lacked recognition in his homeland for a very long time. Audie was an inspiration to me and his repeated bravery in combat made him a legend. His other talents as a prolific and world-famous actor, and also a horse-breeder, poet and songwriter, set the man apart. Such a great man and so sad that he died so young. Thank you for keeping his memory alive. God bless you. Added: April 22, 2016

thought I just let people know big fan of audie murphy films also of his exploits in world war 2. was a little shocked when I was on a cruise got to share a table with an American couple lovely people but when I bought up about audie murphys heroics in the war they where oblivious to them and did not know who he was. seems America and Britain have a lot in common when it comes to teaching our younger generation of the reasons they can still call themselves americans and british. we forget about true hero's then make a hero out of someone like eddie the eagle who in my eyes was a embarresment. let just hope great people like audie murphy are not forgotten.
