I have always held Lt Murphy in the highest of esteem. Just don't know how one many can accomplish as much as he. He died (age 45) way before his time. Battlefield commission is also an amazing honor in itself, but in that the Army allowed him to retain his commission after the battle makes this even more significant.

My father served in WWII, and I can remember growing up and watching Murphy's westerns on TV. Dad told me about Murphy and the story of his life. He was a true American Hero.
