My uncle is buried at Arlington National Cemetery A stones throw away from Capt. Audie Leon Murphy's gravesite.The other day I had a politician come by my house by the name of Tim Murphy. I had asked him if he was any relation to Audie Murphy? He replied Who's that? I said your last name is Murphy, you have no idea who Audie Murphy is! Get out your I-phone and google Audie Murphy, how do you spell that he says? I stated A-U-D-I-E Murphy as I started spelling Murphy! He says oh I can spell Murphy I said are you sure? He says oh he was a war hero and actor. I stated that's it just that? Get off my property and don't ever come back. To summarize too many of our gallant W.W.II veterans are becoming a lost memory like the shifting sands in the tides of history and we shall do everything we can to preserve their memory. My comment is as a kid growing up in the 60's& 70's I loved the Saturday and Sunday army & western movies with all the old time actors but mostly it was audience Murphy my father was a wwiI vet and started telling me the stories of audie but none of them hit home to me until I read his memorial here ,it is a shame as it says the memory of these war heroes has faded to the degree that it has for all of America's vets and their acts of courage to fight the wars they did for our freedom my God bless each and every one of them and may they all rest in peace thank you for reading bless you as well Added: October 21, 2016

Although mr murphey era was before me i had a blessed father who was also very military, he raised me and taught me alot about significant men who did spectacular but things for there country, my father a military historian ,and admirer of old war films exposed me this also, i thank my father for this now many years later, i grew up a huge admirer of mr murphys films and hold a huge admiration for the patriotism, bravery mr murphy had shown and then came home to capture the hearts of so many in his films. I will always cherish the memory of mr murphy and i have had my children fall into the living room and watch one of his movies giving me a chance to share with my kids who mr murphy was im sure many other parents have done the same .. a remarkable human being that will never be forgotten i pray R.I.P. I have been a U.S. History teacher for the past 27 years and I do remember how sad my mother was when Audie died in 1971 (when I was 8). Two summers ago I got to go to Arlington National Cemetery with my brother Tom, and I was able to take a picture on my iPhone of Audie Murphy's grave. I intend to keep the memory of this amazing WWII hero alive for future generations of my students. Added: October 19, 2016
