Summary: Clint Cooper, played by Audie Murphy, is an unwelcome gunfighter with a bad reputation who returns after a two year absence to the town in which he was born. Most of the townsmen are away on cattle drives making the community vulnerable. Unfortunately, Cooper meets up with a former acquaintance known as Spangler, played by Ted deCorsia, and is reunited with a gang of thieves. Cooper's former pals plan on robbing the town bank. Cooper manages to slip away from the gang and warns the few men left in the town. It's not an easy task to convince the suspicious citizens that his intentions are good because Cooper had years earlier killed several family members from the community. Despite Cooper's warning the town sheriff is murdered while trying to out-bluff the outlaws. As a result, Copper is forced to face the thieves single-handedly to save the town and redeem his previously earned bad reputation.
