Summary: This film was Audie's second opportunity to work in a movie directed by one of Hollywood's most famous and acclaimed directors, John Huston, and once again, Audie gives Huston another stellar performance. As Cash Zachary, Audie also has the opportunity to play a character role. Cash Zachary, who has a hatred of Indians. Cash is the fiery brother of Ben played by Burt Lancaster. Lillian Gish, who plays Cash's mother, Matilda, has kept a secret from her family for many years: that her daughter, Rachel, played by Audrey Hepburn, is actually an Indian. Unfortunately, the secret is revealed when a stranger on horseback shows up and tells everyone that Rachel is actually a Kiowa. When Cash learns the truth about Rachel, his hatred takes over and he goes off the deep end. After the family is attacked by the Kiowas, Cash is right there fighting with his brothers and sister and eventually comes to realize that his prejudice was all in vain.
