Summary: A small frontier town in the old west is being controlled by the ruthless cutthroat villian and mob boss named Decker (played by Lyle Bettger). After the sheriff is mysteriously shot in the back, Tom Destry (played by Audie Murphy), the son of a famous fist swinging lawman, is summoned by a newly appointed sheriff, who is also a drunkard, to become the town's deputy. However, the mild-mannered Deputy Destry doesn't even carry a gun. Local confidence in the deputy's ability to execute his sworn duties seems to be low too. But the new deputy does pack an iron determination to see that justice prevails and in the end this is exactly what happens. Based on the Max Brand novel and is a remake of the 1932 Tom Mix film by the name "Destry Rides Again."
