After stumbling upon a photo & short description of Mr. Murphy's military accomplishments, it was inevitable that I find out more about this American hero. Mr. Murphy will definitely be the subject of my son's next history project and will be remembered by my family. Added: September 20, 2012

I read his book "To hell and back" at the age of 11, and never forgot his story. Watched his films and felt good about this soldier making it in the civilian world. I was a second lieutenant in the Northern Norwegian Brigade when he died in -71. I still remember the feelings of loss and sorrow. In many ways he was my first role model(after my parents), and to me he still epitomizes what a citizen and a soldier should be. Audie Murphy set the example of what true leadership is under fire.
All Americans could learn something beneficial from the way he served his country and brought distinction to himself and the United States of America!
