Postmaster General

Comment: Many citizens all over the United States have for years tried to convince the Postmaster General to approve an Audie Murphy commemorative stamp. The cartoon above summarizes the years of frustration for Audie Murphy admirers. Although the cartoon newspaper uses the name "DI" (in reference to the late, beloved Princess Diana) adding the letters "AU" to the beginning of "DI" and "E" to the end gives you "AUDIE". It's would also be necessary to change the word "SHE" in Elvis' caption to "HE".

You may be interested in reading a few of the many letters written on previous occassions to the Postmaster General. Ironically, the Postmaster General and his staff are well known among Audie petitioners for not answering their mail. They were also notorious for not answering their email and changing their email addresses.

Other letters included here are from the Congressman Vito Fossella of New York, Governor of Texas, Governor of Hawaii, Governor of Oklahoma, Senator Reid of Nevada, Senator Kay Bailey Hutchinson of Texas, the VFW, and the American Legion.

Even though petitioners and fans eventually succeeded in getting Audie's stamp, these letters were just too interesting to be removed from the website.
