Re: Audie Murphy Stamp

Dear Sir:

Since the beginning of this stamp drive, we have sent numerous letters to Mr. James C. Tolbert. Jr. and the Citizens Stamp Committee. The response has been evasive and, to say the least, most disparaging. Some of the latest correspondence is enclosed.

It seems to all of us the United States Postal Service has adopted the "mugwump" attitude toward our unrelenting drive for the issuance of this Audie Murphy Stamp. We would like to see this political fence, which puts the mug on one side and the wump on the other, be completely eliminated from the Stamp Development Department and [its] committee.

[These] enclosed web-site petitions brings our total so far to 10,808. Most of the comments on these petitions are directed to you, the Postmaster General. Will you please review some of these.

Thank you.

Respectfully yours,

/----- Signed -----/
