Letter, May 8, 1997

HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES
WASHINGTON, D.C. 20515
May 8, 1997
Mr. Richard L. Rodgers
2105 Mattie Drive
Copperas Cove, Texas 76522
Dear Mr. Rodgers:
Thank you for your recent letter through the Internet. I appreciate your
getting in touch with me about a commemorative stamp for Audie Murphy.
I certainly agree with you that Audie Murphy was a great Texan and American.
The process for getting a commemorative stamp begins with a nomination for the
stamp by the Citizen's Stamp Advisory [Committee]. The United States Congress
does not choose which stamps will be designated as commemoratives. However,
if a vote came before the House for an Audie Murphy commemorative stamp, I
would support it.
Thank you again for getting in touch with me. I appreciate your letter.
Sincerely,
Joe
