The stamp to honor all MOH recipients was noble but does not do justice
to Audie Murphy. Lets cut through all the BS and honor the man for his
accomplishments on the battlefield for the United States of America.
The post office honors James Dean, who according to the TV channel A&E,
feigned homosexuality to avoid military service, and you won't honor
Audie Murphy? The post office should be ashamed of themselves. I
thought VETERANS quit getting second class tratment after WE came home
from Vietnam!! Lets get with it, do the right damn thing!!!!

I can not believe that our greatest WWII hero would not be honored when
instead you put cartoon characters on stamps. How does this teach our
children about patriotism?

Audie Murphy is a true America who risked everything for the country
that he loved. He was not alone in this fight. I believe that we as a
country owe this to him and all the veterans of WWII.

I have taught Social Studies for 20 years. I have taught American
children on two continents. I am sadden each year the new ninth graders
with no knowledge of the tremendous sacrifices made to protect our freedom
by men like my father and others. We have the Eight Air Force Museum in
our county yet the school system does not observe Memorial Day. And
perhaps the largest celebration in this city is Saint Patrick's Day. It
is shameful how we forget.

It is beyond my understanding why we can make commemorative stamps for
every endangered species in the wild kingdom; Disney stamps; etc., but
are unwilling to honor the greatest soldier in the history of our nation!
We need to do this. Not only will it show due appreciation towards America's
most decorated war hero, but it will remind Americans about some
fundamentals of true patriotism. It seems to me that YOU should be leading
the charge to get this commemorative stamp series approved.

In this time of skepticism and distrust in our leaders and lack of
genuine "heroes", I wish to emplore the US Postal Service to initiate a
series of stamps commemorating the life of Audie Leon Murphy, the United
States' greatest hero of the Second World War.

If a man who was the most decorated soldier in World War II and a person
whose actions may have saved many lives and who is unlike many so called
heroes of today (who are not heroes at all) cannot have a stamp issued in
his honor then what is the criteria for such issuance?

With puting a stamp out like this the children of our country may finally
start to recognize who Audie Murphy is and how much he cared for his

I cannot believe such a well-loved hero has not had a stamp issued before.
If we can honor Bugs Bunny and the like, why not someone who was so brave
and gave his all for his country? Plus he was an awesome actor.

For many years our citizens have lacked a sense of patriotism. What is
wrong with us having loyalty to our country and defending what our colors
stand up for but most important of all honoring those individuals who
gave the ultimate sacrifice for others to live in peace and freedom. We
need to instill in our generation the importance of being patriotic. Please
consider Lt. Murphy with a stamp series. Our next generation will be
grateful. Thank you.
