Dan Saalfrank; Student, 10th Grade (Not Given) Audie Murphy should be honored with an entire stamp series.
Leigh Saint (Not Given) Audie Murphy should be honored with an entire stamp series.
Juan Salas, Student Edinburg, Texas Audie Murphy should be honored on a commemorative stamp.
Johnny M. Sample Bennington, Oklahoma Audie Murphy should be honored on a commemorative stamp.
Wanda L. Sanchez Baton Rouge, Louisiana Our most decorated U.S. soldier and no stamp. Let's remember our heroes and role models. Why waste stamps on those we would not want to be role models for our children?
Pamela Sand, Citizen Seattle, Washington It's past time for an entire stamp series to be dedicated to this outstanding citizen and person.
Monica L. Sandoval, Reservist Armed Forces San Antonio, Texas I think this is an excellent idea ... if not belated.
Mark Sanford (Not Given) Audie Murphy should be honored with an entire stamp series.
Lisa R. Sanning, Professional Jefferson City, Missouri Audie Murphy should be honored with an entire stamp series.
Joe Santia, Fire Fighter Ontario, California Audie Murphy should be honored with an entire stamp series.
Vicki Santora Braddock, New Jersey Audie Murphy should be honored with an entire stamp series.
Sarah, 11th Grade Bayonne, New Jersey Audie Murphy DESERVES TO BE REMEMBERED AND H0NORED with his own stamp series.
Norman D. Sather, Jr., Active Army Ft. Leonard Wood, Missouri As a military soldier I think that Audie Murphy should be granted a stamp series as well as a commemorative collection for his undying effort to ensure that the American way of life would continue.
Marietta Satifka, Veteran Washington, Pennsylvania Audie Murphy was there for the United States when it called. Let these same Unived States honor Audie Murphy as we reach the year 2000.
Ladonna Sawyer, Blue Collar Worker Brookville, Ohio Audie Murphy should be honored with an entire stamp series.
Pamela Sayre, Citizen New Haven, Kentucky As an American citizen, I think the United States Postal Service should honor America's most honored soldier with a complete stamp series. If we can honor a cartoon mouse, and a known drug addict singer, we can honor a REAL HERO.
James Michael Scarborough Huntsville, Alabama If cartoon characters can be featured on official U.S. postage stamps, surely one of America's greatest heroes can be so honored.
Stanley Schaeffer Dimmitt, Texas Audie Murphy should be honored with an entire stamp series.
William J. Schaff, Jr. Providence, Rhode Island Audie Murphy should be honored with an entire stamp series.
Richard Schafrick, Citizen Meriden, Connecticut I strongly urge that Audie Murphy be honored with a commemorative stamp. It dismays me to think that the USPS takes the time and money to print stamps "honoring" such heroes as Bugs Bunny and Daffy Duck while refusing to honor a real American Hero. Being 36 years of age, I know only of Mr. Murphy's heroism through what I have researched. It is time that this country honors Mr. Murphy's memory before he is forgotten.
Trevor P. Scheldrake, Active Army Fort Stewart, Georgia Audie Murphy should be honored with an entire stamp series.
John R. Schill, Retired Army El Paso, Texas Audie Murphy should be honored with an entire stamp series.
Robert Schlemmer, Worker Houston, Texas The quiet hero - we need Audie as an example.
Chris Schlotterbeck, Active Army Sacketts Harbor, New York Audie Murphy should be honored on a commemorative stamp.
Chris Schmidt, Student: 10th Grade (Not Given) It is extremely rare that anyone pay attention to the words of a 10th grade student (I felt it was my duty to point out my age and steer clear of deception). If nothing else, though, I hope that you realize the serious lack of patriotism here in the U.S. and use your influential position to fight against the universally passive stance of the people with regard to national pride. No one salutes the flag any more; maybe they would if they thought the most decorated veteran of all time was worthy of a POSTAGE STAMP, for Pete's sake. Give me a break. Give the man at least as much credit as an imaginary, anvil-dropping cartoon bunny.
GySgt. John Schmitt, Retired Marine Corps ????, Maryland Beats the hell out of having to buy Bugs Bunny or Daffy Duck stamps.
Ronald Schmidt, Veteran Dallas, Texas Every Medal of Honor recipient deserves a stamp and Audie Murphy being much more, deserves a series.
Robert G. Shortemeyer, Police Officer Middletown, Pennsylvania Audie Murphy should be honored with an entire stamp series.
Albert Schramm, Veteran Ellicott City, Maryland Audie Murphy stands as an exemplary American, one who moved forth to be counted at a time when he was needed desperately. We can commerate Hollywood idols, rock musicians, and sports figures. We should put the emphasis where it right ought to be: on a genuine hero. I served with the 3rd Inf. Division.
Steven P. Schripsema, Educator Albuquerque, New Mexico Audie Murphy should be honored with an entire stamp series.
Kerwyn Schroeder, Active Army Walthourville, Georgia Audie Murphy should be honored with an entire stamp series.
Carolyn C. Schul, Citizen Hamilton, Ohio I think that Audie Murphy should be honored on a commemorative stamp.
John C. Schultz, Fan West Seneca, New York Audie Murphy should be honored with an entire stamp series.
SGT William J. Schumaker, War Veteran Ozark, Missouri I knew who Audie Murphy was by the time I was 8 years old. Now at 28 and a Gulf War Vet, his memory is forever with me. I joined the infantry when I turned 17 to be like him and the high standards he stands for. Every grunt I know knows Audie and so will my 3 boys. This is the BEST stamp idea I have seen next to the other war stamps. the country needs heroes now more than ever and this in my view is right on target!!
Alan R. Schutte Cincinnati, Ohio How about a series on war heroes?
David P. Schwartz, War Veteran Olympia, Washington It is time, in this day of little morality, honesty, and integrity, and with the scruples of this country nearing rock bottom, being led by a dope smoking, draft dodger, liar that a true hero be honored by way of a commemorative stamp series. Do one on George Bush too.
Rick Schwindt Alexander, Kansas Have you lost your mind? People like Mr. Murphy are the reason the rest of us are able to do the things we enjoy because of their willingness to die for what they believe in.
Steven M. Scott Waldorf, Maryland Audie Murphy should be honored on a commemorative stamp.
Ted M. Scully, II; Active Army Raeford, North Carolina Americans need more heroes like Audie Murphy. If the U.S. Postal Service does a series on cartoon characters and dead drug addicts, why not do a series on America's most decorated war hero? He was a legend in his own time, an accomplished actor, writer of country and western songs, and poet. He served this great country with pride and epitomizes the term selfless service. GIVE HIM A STAMP SERIES.
Joel Alman Seagal, Professional Bensalem, Pennsylvania To whom it may concern. He does deserve this. He was a true American Hero.
Charlie Seamon, Blue Collar Worker New Albany, Pennsylvania He deserves it.
Jim Search, Police Officer Sweet Home, Oregon Audie Murphy should be honored with an entire stamp series.
Tom Seevers, Citizen (Not Given) Audie Murphy should be honored with an entire stamp series.
Lee Seipp, Patriot Audie Murphy should be honored on a commemorative stamp.
Dan Sesmundo, Blue Collar Worker San Diego, California I think that Audie Murphy should be honored with an entire stamp series.
Steven Severino Las Vegas, Nevada Hi, I'm Steven Severino. Audie Murphy is my favorite war hero. He was the most decorated soldier of World War II. He deserves to be honored more. This will help America know the great soldier more. Thank you.
Linda A. Seward Richmond, California I think that Mr. Murphy is an outstanding candidate for a stamp series. An extraordinary "ordinary" man.
Dan Seymour, Active Army Midlothian, Virginia Audie Murphy should be honored on a commemorative stamp.
Roy Shanes, Blue Collar Worker Only, Tennessee I personally think that Audie Murphy is an American Hero and should be honored with an entire stamp series of his gallantry displayed during WWII in service for his and our country. Thank you.
Carl K. Shannon, Sr., Retiree Newville, Pennsylvania Audie Murphy should be honored with an entire stamp series.
Benny W. Sharp, Professional Harvest, Alabama Audie Murphy should be honored on a commemorative stamp.
Richard Sharp, Citizen Alexandria, Virginia If there is a subject that should be covered by a series of stamps, it is our patriots who served our country.
Daniel P. Shaughnasey, Veteran Hudson, New York In his short time he was able to be in the US Army he showed true Army spirit. And if we can make cartoons and other things stamps, why over look a great American hero? I was in the 3rd ID in Germany and even in the 70's he was still talked about. Thank you for your time.
Georgette S. Shay Philadelphia, Pennsylvania Audie Murphy should be honored with an entire stamp series.
WO1 Craig B. Shelton, Active Army Fort Myer, Virginia Audie Murphy should be honored with an entire stamp series.
David Shepherd Mt. Laurel, New Jersey It is NOW OR NEVER!
Pat Shields, Citizen San Antonio, Texas Audie Murphy is a true American hero and should be honored. We put so much emphasis on movie stars and sports figures but HE is a true hero and has done more for this country than any movie or sports star.
Stephen Shillingford, Police Officer Downingtown, Pennsylvania Audie Murphy should be honored with an entire stamp series.
Karilyn Shipman ????, Arizona The U.S. Post Office has seen fit to issue stamps honoring such actors as James Dean, Humphry Bogart, and Marilyn Monroe. While it cannot be denied that these people were fine actors, they certainly never were honored by the U.S. Government as Audie Murphy was. It certainly should be mentioned that one of the aforementioned actor's greatest claim to fame was an affair with the President of the United States and his brother, the Attorney General of the United States. This is public knowledge, and surely not something to be proud of. Yet, your office saw fit to honor this person with a stamp. Also, Elvis Presley, while one of the greatest rock and roll singers of all time, had a drug abuse problem so great that he died of it. This is also public knowledge. Your office saw fit to honor him with a stamp. So how can you justify not issuing a stamp for Audie Murphy whose accmplishments were recognized by the U.S. Government by making him the most decorated soldier in any war! He was also an accomplished actor. This fact alone should qualify him for a stamp, as your office has already honored other actors. Shame on you and your office for seeing fit to honor these other people while denying this honor to Audie Murphy. I hope that you will reconsider and give Audie Murphy the commemorative stamp that he truly deserves.
Russell Silberschlag Tucson, Arizona Audie Murphy should be honored with an entire stamp series.
MSG Lewis W. Silverman, Reservist Armed Forces Newport News, Virginia Audie Murphy should be honored on a commemorative stamp.
Michael J. Silvia, Police Officer ????, Massachusetts Audie Murphy should be honored with an entire stamp series.
Agnes L. Simms Dayton, Ohio Audie Murphy should be honored with an entire stamp series.
Jill Simpson, Professional Birmingham, Alabama Audie Murphy should be honored with an entire stamp series.
Bruce D. Skrukrud, War Veteran Minneapolis, Minnesota No American has ever deserved the honor of a stamp series more than Audie L. Murphy. I most urgently petition the USPS to do so as quickly as possible. Thank you.
Lisa Smalley, Student 9th Grade Sewell, New Jersey Audie Murphy should be honored with an entire stamp series.
John E. Smathers Bowie, Maryland Audie Murphy should be honored with an entire stamp series.
Anastacia Smith, Student Bessemer, Alabama It's unfair and unpolitical to make Bugs Bunny a commemorative stamp before a historical figure who also represented our country. Bugs just humiliated Daffy Duck. Which is also what you are doing to Murphy and our country.
Becky A. Smith Heber City Audie Murphy is more deserving of a stamp than a cartoon character is.
C. Ray Smith, Citizen Spring, Texas Great Texan and American that deserves to be remembered.
Charles A. Smith, Police Officer North Charleston, South Carolina Audie Murphy should be honored with an entire stamp series.
David Smith Irving, Texas Audie Murphy should be honored with an entire stamp series.
D. David Smith, Citizen Stockton, California Please add my name to the petition for a commemorative stamp featuring Audie Murphy!
George C. Smith Sayreville, New Jersey Audie Murphy should be honored with an entire stamp series.
Jon A. Smith Lowell, Massachusetts I am an Elvis Presley fan and I appreciate the fact that he has a stamp. I was totally shocked to see that Audie Murphy did not have one. We must remember the people who have come to our great nation's side at its time of need. I believe that Audie L. Murphy is truly one of those people and is worthy of this honor. Thank you.
Paul C. Smith Sayreville, New Jersey Audie Murphy should be honored with an entire stamp series.
Raymond Smith Glenwood, Maryland Audie Murphy should be honored on a commemorative stamp.
Scott Smith, Citizen Ellettsville, Indiana Audie Murphy should be honored with an entire stamp series.
Shawn Smith Gilroy, California Mr. Audie Murphy deserves the right to be honored on a National level. If other people such as Elvis, Humphrey Bogart, and others can have a stamp for being entertainers then so should Mr. Murphy. He was an American Hero and deserves the honor.
Thomas C. Smith, Senior Citizen McConnelsburg, Pennsylvania I would sure appreciate it if you would do your best to honor one of America's greatest heroes in this way.
Alex Sniatkowski, Police Officer Passaic, New Jersey There are stamps honoring birds, flowers, fish, and lighthouses, but when it comes to a true American hero, Audie Murphy bears no consideration? How about that!
Mark Sniatkowski, Police Officer Pompton Plaims, New Jersey Audie Murphy is an example of what Americans are becoming less and less of: brave and patriotic.
Jean Sobota Columbus, Nebraska Audie Murphy should be honored with an entire stamp series.
Thomas W. Softy Central Islip, New York A man who did so much for his country must be honored for his service and a stamp series would be appropriate. Thank you.
Kenneth Soloff, Active Army Killeen, Texas Audie Murphy should be honored with an entire stamp series.
Marguerite Songy, Citizen Baton Rouge, Louisiana Of all the people who have ever been put on a stamp, I believe Mr. Audie Murphy should have been one of the first. He probably should have been President but the least he deserves is a commemorative stamp in honor of his heroism. Thanks.
Kenneth W. Southerland, Retired Air Force Anchorage, Alaska It is only fitting and proper that Audie Murphy, the most decorated American soldier in the greatest war of all time, be honored and more importantly, remembered with his own stamp series. Individuals of far less stature have been honored in the past.
John S. Sozio, Citizen Yonkers, New York I think that Audie Murphy should be honored with an entire stamp series.
Barry Sparks, Professional York, Pennsylvania Audie Murphy should be honored on a commemorative stamp.
Dwight David Spaulding, War Veteran North Vernon, Indiana In a day where our kid's heroes make baskets, or make field goals, or wrestle in a ring, I think it is time to honor a man that deserves to be a hero to everyone.
John S. Sperry, World War II Veteran Owosso, Michigan Audie Murphy is a great war hero of world war II. Please consider issuing a series of stamps, or a commemorative stamp honoring him for what he has done for his country.
Jill Spitz Kenosha, Wisconsin Audie Murphy should be honored with an entire stamp series.
Jon Sprinkle, Blue Collar Worker Elyria, Ohio Audie Murphy should be honored with an entire stamp series.
Gilbert A. Sprous, Active Army Wahiawa, Hawaii With all the people that are awarded a stamp in their memory, I feel that this is a total embarassment. Audie Murphy was a great man in many ways.
Clarence Sprout, Civil Servant Harrisburg, Pennsylvania Althoug the postal service issued a stamp for all Medal of Honor winners, I feel Audie Murphy was far above the rest. He set a standard so high that few men could ever duplicate his acts. For this reason, he should have a stamp issued in his honor and his alone.
Yale St. Clair, Citizen Denver, Colorado In this country today, we have few real heroes. Mr. Murphy was a great man and a hero. He should be honored.
Valorie Stackpole Sarasota, Florida We have too few military people being honored. I believe that Audie Murphy should be put on a stamp. If Bugs Bunny made it on one ..... I would like to say how much I loved seeing the "Women in the Military" series that you had. That was great.
Greg Stafne, Police Officer Stillwater, Minnesota Audie Murphy should be honored with an entire stamp series.
James Starr Camp Hill, Pennsylvania Audie Murphy should be honored with an entire stamp series.
Mike Stephany, Reservist, Armed Forces Chester, Virginia This effort is well deserved.
Larry G. Stephens, Disabled Vet Riverside, Ohio Audie Murphy should be honored with an entire stamp series.
Victor H. Stephenson, Active Army Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri Audie Murphy should be honored on a commemorative stamp.
Robert H. Stern, Veteran Chantilly, Alabama As a retired foreign service officer and Air Force veteran I have had the opportunity to see life around the world and to reflect on how lucky I am to have been born an American and to enjoy the rights a priveleges of American citizenship. It was and continues to be men like Audie Murphy who at the risk of and sometimes at the cost of their lives, preserved, protected, and defended those rights. We should not allow the mere passage ] of time to obscure their and his very real deeds. We can never fully repay them. We can remember them with the honor and dignity they deserve. It would be a terrible travesty if men like Audie Murphy were passed over when we have immortalized truly unimportant people like film stars.
Evelyn Steward Arlington Heights, Illinois Audie Murphy should be honored with an entire stamp series.
Curtis L. Stevens, Citizen Sandston, Virginia Audie Murphy should be honored with an entire stamp series.
James Dean Steward, GySgt, USMC, Ret. Witchita Falls, Texas What better way to honor a great American and WWII Hero. Does he deserve any less than Elvis Presley? In fact, he deserves more. He was willing to give all he had in the defense of freedom!
Chuck Stewart, War Veteran Tucson, Arizona If the United States Post Office can honor Bugs Bunny I would certainly hope that Mr. Runyon would love his country enough to honor its most decorated war hero. I consider this a slap in the face to all veterans of this country. Then again, judging from the condition of our government perhaps a cartoon character is more appropriate.
Glenn Stewart Mooresville, North Carolina Audie Murphy should be honored with an entire stamp series.
Robert R. Stewart; Retired Army Harvest, Alabama As a retired US Army Sergeant, I feel that NOT to honor one of America's greatest soldiers would be an insult to those who have served. If Bugs Bunny somehow deserves it, then definitely Audie Murphy.
John Stieringer, Citizen Sterling, Virginia This man is a hero in every sense of the word and preserves recognition. A stamp may spark curiosity in young people who don't know about him.
Ralph Richard Stoddard, Veteran Katy, Texas Please put Audie Murphy on a series of stamps. Forget the ridiculous and absurd notion of putting a dumb bunny on a stamp in place of a national hero.
John Stokes, Citizen Knoxville, Tennessee Audie Murphy should be honored with an entire stamp series.
Christopher P. Storzillo, Police Officer Christopher P. Storzillo, Police Officer It's about time we honor true American Heroes and not the things that are destroying what these heroes have created with their sacrifices.
Jerry M. Stout, Fan Lufkin, Texas I can think of no better way to honor any American such as Audie Murphy who did so much for his country and the American people. Please lets give this American the respect he deserves with a stamp or even a gold coin in his memory.
Desiree Stoy Mansfield, Ohio Audie Murphy should be honored with an entire stamp series.
Daniel Stratton, 12th Grade Student Orange Park, Florida Audie Murphy should be honored on a commemorative stamp.
Jan Stromberg Crystal, Minnesota Audie Murphy should be honored with an entire stamp series.
Rachel Hickman Stultz (Not Given) Audie Murphy should be honored with an entire stamp series.
Yesenia Suarez, Student, College Killeen, Texas It's way overdue! Don't you think that Mr. Murphy has done more for our country than Mr. Bunny?
Kimberly A. Sullivan Washington, D.C. Why can we not honor Lt. Murphy? We had an Elvis tribute - am I missing something?
Lavon Sumner Bryan, Ohio Audie Murphy should be honored with an entire stamp series.
SGT Curtis R. Swalley, Active Army Temple, Texas Audie Murphy should be honored with an entire stamp series.
Mrs. Nancy Swan Peoria, Illinois This would be a lovely commemorative stamp. People need this remembrance.
Ava L. Swanson, Citizen Allenstown, New Hampshire Audie Murphy should be honored with an entire stamp series.
Richard A. Swavely, War Veteran State College, Pennsylvania A true American hero to be held up as a role model for young people. A real lesson for patriotism. Everyone should know his story.
Jan H. Sylvester, Citizen Leesburg, Virginia Audie Murphy, as the most decorated veteran of all wars, should be honored with a series of stamps. If we can have stamps with cartoon characters, we should have stamps that will teach the un-informed people of today about a great American hero.
Peter Syrett East Norwich, New York I know your boss is a no good draft dodger who couldn't possibly appreciate the sacrifices that men like Audie Murphy and millions of other nameless patriotic American men have made but if it is possible to honor cartoon characters then there is absolutely no justification to ignore one of the only true heroes of this century.
