Murphy, the most decorated American military service member who ever fought during WWII. If you have any sense of honor and a pair of balls, you'll take care of business. The business of honoring this great American. |
| Terry and Patricia Reiss | Alpine, California | If we cannot honor a true American hero with a memorial stamp by the U.S. Post Office, then we have no business honoring anyone. To commemorate a rock and roll performer and reject someone who defended and stood for America, someone who risked his life to protect the American dream, would make a mockery of all commemorative stamps. He honored his country with everything he had. It is time that we acknowledged his efforts. |

| Chris Rhudy | Gatesville, Texas | Please make a stamp series for Audie. He deserves it. |

| Jean M. Riendeau | Grand Forks, North Dakota | We don't have enough real heroes today. This is a great way to again honor one of our greatest. We cannot reward, or thank him enough, in life or death, for what he did for our Country during and after the war. |

| William Roberson | Buford, Georgia | The Audie Murphy story was inspiring to young NCO's in leadership courses. If the Army can use him as an example of honorable traits in which one can learn from then why can't the post office use him. Maybe it could give some of the younger generation true heights of heroism to aspire to. Better than putting Elvis on a stamp. What did he do, besides a lot of drugs and women, for others to look up to? |

Dear Mr. Runyon: As a disabled veteran of the 3rd Infantry Division and an employee of the U.S. Postal Service, I ask you to honor the memory of a great American Hero, Audie Murphy, and issue a first class stamp in his honor. Thankyou, Kevin Romeyn |
| Comel Rooms, Teacher | Killeen, Texas | Audie Murphy should be honored with an entire stamp series. |
| Linda Roseland | Longview, Texas |
If we do not remember our national war heroes with stamps, then how can we
possibly justify the Marilyn Monroe stamp, the Bugs Bunny stamp, and the Jazz
musician series? I have collected commemoratives for years and years. We
have commemorated many, many less deserving men on the faces of our stamps.
Surley we can give Audie Murphy this lasting memorial in our national archives. In fact, why not find pictures of other Medal of Honor winners and put out a sheet of them? Of course, I would like to see a sheet of Murphy alone, but the Medal of Honor sheet would be a top seller. Monetarilly, how can a capitalist institution like the Post Office overlook such an important potential for profit? I personally will invest in 4 sheets. |

| Kayann Rudduck | Jamestown, Ohio | I think a WWII congressional medal honoree should be eligible for the honor of a stamp since it was his effort that gave us the freedom to be FREE Americans. |
| Robert W. Rugg, Historian | Houston, Texas | Audie Murphy is one of America's last true war heroes of the 20th Century. The children of America should be taught the basics of the power of God, and family values that Audie was taught. He saved the lives of so many young men at war, so they could go home and take care of their families. He was the bravest man that I have ever known. His spirit I can feel in my heart as I write this letter. God blessed Audie Murphy so why doesn't America bless him by giving him a simple stamp of appreciation? Do not hesitate any longer! Print a stamp so the children can ask who Audie was. Audie in my heart would want on the stamp a picture of him saluting the American Flag holding a little cross representing the men who lived and died with him in battle. |
