| Ellen Pack, Veteran | ????, Indiana | Audie Murphy should be honored with an entire stamp series. |
| Anna, Papas, Teacher | Killeen, Texas | Audie Murphy is an excellent example for young adults. We have had commemorative stamps for cartoon characters, movie stars, and singers. I believe that Mr. Murphy deserves as much consideration as these others. Thank you for your time. |
| James R. Parker | Lake Dallas, Texas |
I think Audie Murphy should be honored with an entire series of stamps. Look
what he has done for our country. Audie Murphy, like so many other soldiers,
was willing to give his very all to allow us to live with the
freedoms that we enjoy today. Not only was he awarded every medal for valor
that the United States could give him, but he also received the top medal
from other countries as well. Not only was he one of our heroes, but when
fighting for freedom and democracy, Audie Murphy was a hero, patriot, and
ambassador to other nations as well. The postal service has issued stamps
to persons of all walks of life, usually reserved for the famous, i.e.
entertainers like Elvis Presley, Marilyn Monroe, James Dean, etc. What did
they do for us? Made movie's, that's all. What did Audie Murphy do? He
(along with every other soldier) gave us the right to make movies. Our
government and other governments think so highly of him, why not y'all. I
am reminded about a poem of where we get our freedoms. IT IS THE SOLDIER, NOT THE REPORTER, WHO HAS GIVEN US FREEDOM OF THE PRESS. IT IS THE SOLDIER, NOT THE CAMPUS ORGANIZER, WHO HAS GIVEN US THE FREEDOM TO DEMONSTRATE. IT IS THE SOLDIER, NOT THE LAWYER, WHO HAS GIVEN US THE RIGHT TO A FAIR TRIAL. IT IS THE SOLDIER WHO SALUTES THE FLAG, SERVES UNDER THE FLAG, AND WHOSE COFFIN IS DRAPED BY THE FLAG IN WHICH THE PROTESTER IS ALLOWED TO BURN. -Charles M. Province- |
| Tina Parks | Nashville, Tennessee | Why would you deny Audie Murphy? |
| Christopher Parriman | Dayton, Ohio | Audie should be honored with an entire stamp series. |
| Joe Parris | Irving, Texas | It is an absolute disgrace that you have the authority to help America celebrate one of its greatest heroes, yet you are reluctant to do so. Audie Murphy epitomizes what America is about: the land of the free, and the home of the brave. Honor those who gave of their lives by honoring those who stood with them. Audie Murphy stood with his men, and he did it with cunning and bravery. Let the people celebrate his achievements, and at the same time remember the sacrifices made by those who will never come home. Audie deserves to stand tall among his men once again. |
| Conrad W. Parvin | Wilder, Idaho | If Bugs Bunny is worth a stamp, how about a REAL HERO? |
| Sonja R. Pastora | Killeen, Texas | Audie should be honored with an entire stamp series. |
| Matt Paton | Salem, Oregon | I personally find it hard to believe than an individual of such great historical importance, both military and patriotic, could be forgotten by those who could do him so much honor. |
| Ken Patterson | Niles, Michigan | Audie Murphy should be honored with an entire stamp series. |
| Thomas E. Patten | Niceville, Florida |
Dear Sir: Audie Murphy is the most decorated American military many in history. I sincerely hope and request that a commemorative stamp be issued to honor this man. He sets the highest ideals for the youth of his day and of the present day. It would only be fitting that he be so honored. Thank you. Sincerely: Thomas E. Patten |
| Deidre Pavey | Georgetown, Indiana | What a great way this would be to honor such a fine and remarkable person!! The things he did for our country should not be forgotten!! I am very shocked that Audie Murphy has not been honored in this way! Most decorated war soldier, Congressional Medal of honor, Country Music Association of Texas Hall of Fame, excellent actor, National Cowboy Hall of Fame, and the list goes on... Come on, wake up!!! This man DESERVES this NOW!!!!! |
| David Pearce | Cadillac, Michigan | Why has this not been done already? Audie Murphy is a genuine American hero. We have Bugs Bunny on a stamp. Let's get with it. |

| Dr. Michael Francis M. Perez | Manilla, Phillipines | Audie should be honored with an entire stamp series. |
| Daniel J. Perkins | Greenville, Texas | In a time when Elvis Presley and Bugs Bunny are being honored with stamps, I believe Audie Murphy should be honored as well. His credentials are far more impressive in that he was an ordinary American who risked everything on behalf of his country, in the greatest war for its survival to date. Please honor Audie with a stamp. By honoring him you honor all who serve so valiantly in WWII. |
| Johnny Lynn Perry | Lawton, Oklahoma | When in the time of War, or national crisis, many people join in and help, giving of themselves and ask nothing in return...but when a few join and inspire others to give just that little bit more of themselves in order to fulfill a mission and we as a nation recognize that effort...it is a legacy that is left for the future generations to build upon. Audie Murphy was such a person...young, not well educated...but values set in stone that today we relive as you do when on this day...we remember those who make our blood boil with pride...with a spirit that swells inside each of us. Give us a daily dose of pride! A step back in time when we again ride with our heroes and let our next generation of men and women who defend our freedom feel that joy...that boiling inside of spirit and drive to be all that they can be...give Audie Murphy's memory the stamp that he justly deserves. |
| Greg Peterman | Boutte, Louisiana | Please honor this great American. |
| Dave Peterson, Reservist, Armed Forces | Provo, Utah | This is a disgrace. A man who risked his life and was awarded this nation's highest honor, the Medal Of Honor, is placed after Bugs Bunny. I don't understand these priorities. |
| Renee A. Peterson | Byron, Georgia | Our young people have so few upstanding people to look up to in today's society. Most high profile types are merely after sensationalism and are very egotistical. I think that we ought to bring forward more personalities like Mr. Murphy for examples to our children. Stamps are one such way to recall and reward heroic behavior. |

| John W. Pickett | Chicago, Illinois |
It is my honor and privelege to request that you approve a commemorative stamp
in memory of the late Audie L. Murphy, American and recipient of more military
honors than anyone in our nation's history. You are already well aware, through
other more eloquent letters, of all that Mr. Murphy did in service to his
country during the dark years of World War II. I will not attempt to list them
here. However, if you can approve stamps in honor of Bugs Bunny, of Elvis Presley,
and of James Dean, worthy figures who have served us through the field of
entertainment, then why can you not honor Audie Murphy, who fought and shed
his blood to end tyranny and to ensure that the figures mentioned above would
be able to do what they did best in freedom? If the tiny nation of Sierra Leon
could honor Mr. Murphy with a commemorative stamp, why can we not also? I encourage you to please strongly reconsider this issue and to approve an Audie Murphy commemorative stamp. In doing honor to this great American, you would do honor to us all. Thank you so very much for your time and consideration. God bless you! |
| James R. Pierce | Jacksonville, Florida | Audie Murphy should be honored on a commemorative stamp. |

| Roger W. Pires | Fairhaven, Massachusetts | NO one deserves an entire stamp series more than Audie L. Murphy because no one has done more for his country that Audie has. I wish you would reconsider and single Audie out for an entire stamp series. |

| Jeanie M. Porterfield | Omaha, Nebraska | Audie Murphy should be honored on a commemorative stamp. |
| A.T. Powell | Harker Heights, Texas | Audie should be honored with an entire stamp series. |

| Savannah C. Praymous | Killeen, Texas | Audie should be honored with an entire stamp series. |
| SFC Vernon R. Praymous | Killeen, Texas | Audie should be honored with an entire stamp series. |
| Linda S. Prentice | Rimforest, California | How can you ignore this petition? Surely this man deserves to be honored by our country. Shame on you for ignoring the thousands of petitions that have been sent to you!! You need to act on this matter. Or don't you respect our nation's heroes?? Perhaps Bugs Bunny best describes those things you value? Audie Murphy deserves to have his memory honored with an official U.S. stamp. You need to do this now. |
| Tedd J. Pritchard, Active Army | El Paso, Texas | This action should have happened years earlier. |
