| Richard Macias, Veteran | Tucson, Arizona | I think it's a shame that Audie Murphy has not received a commemorative stamp. I think that the post office should stop trying to be politically correct in issuing commemorative stamps and start honoring those who truly deserve and have earned the right to be placed on a United States Postage Stamp. If there is one person who can truly be called an American, it's Audie Murphy. He exemplifies a strength and courage which is what we as a country are. |
| Jason Mackenzie | Raleigh, North Carolina | I believe Audie Murphy is a true American hero and deserves to be recognized with a stamp series. In a world lacking positive role models and true heroes, it would be great to see a REAL American hero recognized. |
| Sandra MacNicoll | Trenton, New Jersey | If the U.S. Postal Service can honor the entertainment industry as much as it does with commemorative stamps, surely it can at least do as much for one of the greatest military heroes of this century. |
| Paul G. Madden | Round Rock, Texas | Audie L. Murphy is an American Legend. He needs to be recognized as such with a commemorative stamp so do the right thing and grant our request. |
| Failelei L. Maiava | Copperas Cove, Texas | Audie should be honored with a commemorative stamp. |
| Mark Manchester | Emporia, Kansas | I think it would be a great injustice to not honor Mr. Murphy in this way. Not only did he leave his mark on the entertainment industry, he showed what the meaning of a true hero is by his actions. Please grant this request. Along with the notoriety he deserves, it would help today's youth gain a knowledge of this great person. |
| William Mangieri, Reservist, Armed Forces | Hopewell Junction, New York | Audie Murphy should be honored with an entire stamp series. |
| Theresa Mann | (not given) | There have been stamps honoring military heros and stamps honoring movie stars, it makes sense that there should be a stamp honoring Murphy who was both! |
| Jon Mansfield | Mt. Sterling, Kentucky | Audie should be honored with an entire stamp series. |
| Don Maples, Retired Army | Nolanville, Texas | Audie Murphy should be honored with an entire stamp series. |
| Thom March, Citizen | Murphys, California | I believe a stamp in honor and memory of this great war hero is long overdue. |
| Les Marcum | Kentucky | Audie should be honored on a commemorative stamp. |
| Edwin C. Marion | Forks, Washington | As an Honorably Discharged Veteran of both WWII and Korea, where by the way, I served in the 3rd Infantry Division same as Murphy, I understand the real meaing of "Hero" when it comes to men like Audie Murphy. Here was a true hero in any man's army. |
| Martin A. Markley, Retired Army | Fullerton, California | Audie Murphy should be honored with an entire stamp series. |
| Jay D. Marksheid | Little Neck, New York | Audie should be honored on a commemorative stamp. |
| Meridyth D. Martin | Hampton, Virginia | I believe Audie Murphy should have an entire stamp dedicated to him. He was one individual that should have a stamp dedicated to himself and only himself ... |
| Tom Martin | Lansing, Michigan | Audie Murphy was not only a true American hero, but, during the fifties when I was a kid, he was a cultural icon. I spent many a Saturday afternoon watching his westerns. No Audie Murphy is less well known than Bugs Bunny but he is just as well known as many of the obscure figures honored on United States stamps in recent years. Thanks. |
| Tony Martinez | Anaheim, California | Audie should be honored with an entire stamp series. |
| Mark Massengale | Concord, North Carolina | Audie Murphy was America's greatest war hero. We as a country need to remember and honor those who served this country in battle. Audie Murphy, the most decorated of all soldiers, can represent all soldiers who served and died for our country on a commemorative stamp. |
| Andrea Maus | Monticello, Minnesota | I think that Mr. Murphy deserves this great honor. He did so much for our country. Now it is time to show his family how much we care. |
| MSgt Howard May, USAF | Roswell, Georgia | After serving my country 25 years in the United States Air Force, both in Vietnam and the Gulf War, I can think of no other man more deserving of this honor. Please provide all of your support and take whatever action is necessary to insure this hero of America is recognized as such. Thank you. |
| John E. Mayes | Caldwell, New Jersey | Audie should be honored on a commemorative stamp. |
| Kitty J. McAdoo | (not given) | Audie should be honored with an entire stamp series. |

| John McCollum | Varnell, Georgia | Audie Murphy was one of our greatest American war heroes. He is deserving of being placed and honored with a stamp |
| William T. McComb | Chincoteague, Virginia | I am on the local postal committee in Chincoteague, Virginia. All of us on the committee feel Audie needs to have a commemorative stamp. He was a WWII war hero! |
| David McCullough | Fort Eustis, Virginia | What is more important, Elvis on drugs or a hero that risked his life to fight for and defend the United States of America. I'm disgusted to even think that the U.S. Postal Service doesn't even acknowledge the existence of a true American Hero. (Message for the Postmaster: You must have been one of those draft dodgers (COWARDS) from the 60's and 70's). |
| Judy McDonald | Kendallville, Indiana | The other day I saw a T.V. commercial for a stamp for "Bugs Bunny". At the post office there are now all-occassion cards and special postcards for sale. SURELY - you can find it in your heart to print a SERIES of stamps for AUDIE MURPHY - a man who embodied all the ideals upon which this country was founded: hard work, patriotism, bravery, honesty, "family values" to name just a few. I can well imagine his memory is a rebuke to the present administration, but perhaps the president - instead of worrying about apologizing for slavery - would apologize for overlooking this true HERO. |
| Ben McElroy, Student | ????, Utah | When one forgets the past, one is doomed to repeat it again and learn again. Let us remember. |

| Sherry Mcquate | El Cajon, California | My father, a WWII vet, and part-time movie projectionist, held Audie Murphy in awe, as I am sure many WWII vets did. His movies, though they seem contrived and corny by today's standards, provided a role model and morality plays to many of us baby-boomers. Mr. Murphy, though short in stature, cast a very tall shadow throughout the 50's and we can most certainly show our esteem and high regard for one of America's greatest war heroes and acknowledge the role his movies played in influencing the baby boomer generation. |
| John Other Medicine, Jr., Student | Crow Agency, Montana | Audie Murphy should be honored with an entire stamp series. |
| Clayton E. Memmott | Centerville, Utah | Audie Murphy should be honored with an entire stamp series. |
| Peggy Menegakis, Patriot | Granada Hills, California | Audie Murphy should be honored with an entire stamp series. |
| Jeff Meriam | (not given) | Our children are inundated with fake heroes on TV, comics, etc. Audie Murphy was a genuine American hero who can serve as a role model for our young people. You routinely honor others who have served their country, thus, I think you should honor his memory, and his contribution to his country, with a stamp series. |
| Brenda Merkley | Gainesville, Florida | Audie was our most decorated soldier of WWII. How can you ignore him?? |
| James Meunier | Richmond, Virginia | Audie Murphy should be honored with an entire stamp series named after him. In addition, he should be honored on a commemorative stamp for the bravery and courage he showed during WWII. |
| Claudio de Micheli | Asti, Italy | Audie Murphy should be honored with an entire stamp series. |

| Bradley R. Miller | Ferguson, Missouri | As a Department of the Army civilian employee and stamp collector, I would like to see one of America's greatest heroes commemorated with a stamp. |
| David Miller, Civil Servant | Port Byron | American's of Audie's stature are a very rare breed. He is deserving of this honor. |

| Eric Miller, Active Army | Killeen, Texas | Audie Murphy should be honored with an entire stamp series. |
| Helen Miller | Lockport, Illinois | If we can give a stamp to "Elvis" a drug abuser, then how can we afford to ignore a "real" hero like Audie Murphy? If we don't honor his memory how can we expect our children to? |
| Larry Miller, Active Army | Harrisburg, Illinois | Audie Murphy should be honored with an entire stamp series. |
| Michelle Miller, Educator | Killeen, Texas | Audie Murphy should be honored with an entire stamp series. |

Only in America would this petition drive be necessary. Because we are so
free, due to people like Audie Murphy, men like the postmaster general exist.
No doubt this glorified postman is feeling omnipotent as he basks in the
attention of the common man pleading with him to consider Audie for a stamp.
More likely he is impotent and the attention he is receiving puts some zip
into his (code). Sad really. But do not feel badly. The feats and deeds of Audie Murphy will far outlive the insignificance of a stubborn, stupid little man. Audie Murphy's memory is so uplifting to so many Americans that some day there will be a stamp or stamps, a movie or movies, and whatever else someone so great deserves as a thank you to what he did for us. Often times in history the hero is truly appreciated long after he is gone. This is the case with Audie Murphy. And rest assured, he will be remembered forever, just as the current postmaster general will be forgotten faster than junk e-mail on your sister's broken computer. Long live the memory of the modest, humble, hero, Audie L. Murphy. |
| Stan Mocarsky | Warwick, New York | Audie should be honored with an entire stamp series. |
| Roy Montenegro, National Guard | Denver, Colorado | Audie Murphy should be honored with an entire stamp series. |
| Norman E. Moon | Port Jervis, New York | Audie should be honored with an entire stamp series. |
| Don Moore | Miamisburg, Ohio | If any one should have a stamp it's AUDIE MURPHY!!! |
| Kenneth V. Moore, Reservist, Armed Forces | Schenectady, New York | Considering the caliber of some individuals (i.e. Marilyn Monroe) already so honored, it is difficult to understand your reluctance to honor an individual who served this country with distinction and has given great pleasure to audiences over the years. |
| Roy S. Moore, Retired Army | Lilburn, Georgia | Audie Murphy should be honored with an entire stamp series. |
| Barbra Lynn Moran | Godfrey, Illinois | This man has been ignored too long. Audie Murphy not only shows the best a person can be, but also, that each human can make mistakes. He was as close to normal as any person. How many people can honestly say they have not shared in at least one of his downfalls? Yet, not one person can share in his awards for bravery. School children should be taught about him. Leaving him out of war discussions of that period is as negligent as leaving the Vietnam "action" out of education. |
| Alan J. Morgan | Liverpool, New York |
It is a disservice to this man and to the nation that our highest decorated
veteran of WWII has not had a stamp in his honor. Funny you can find the time to honor drug addicted, mentally disturbed Rock 'N Roll stars but no time for a real role model that our children can admire and learn from. |
| John Morgan | Indianapolis, Indiana | Audie Murphy should be honored with an entire stamp series. |
| Rayomond G. Morgan | ??? Indiana | Audie Murphy should be honored with an entire stamp series. |
| Michael E. Morris | Hillsdale, Michigan | Of all of the people who have been honored with being place on a stamp ... commemorative or otherwise ... Audie Murphy is the most deserving. Our country's most decorated veteran ... more American than Elvis and any other actor and definitely Bugs Bunny! |
| Richard Morris | Las Vegas, Nevada | He should be honored with an entire stamp series. |
| Timothy Morrison | Richardson, Texas | Audie Murphy is an American hero who deserves such an honor. Lt. Murphy as well as many other American heroes should be honored with postage stamps as opposed to placing flowers or art deco designs on stamps. Stamps are a way for American's to re-explore their heritage. |
| Leon Mortenson | Provo, Utah | Audie Murphy should be honored with an entire stamp series. |
| Wesley D. Mortensen | Chaska, Minnesota | Please give strong consideration to the idea of a commemorative stamp to honor our most decorated war hero. |

| Marissa Muriel, Army Jr. ROTC Cadet, Ellison High School | Killeen, Texas | Audie Murphy should be honored with an entire stamp series. |
| Audie W. Murphy | Independence, Missouri | The United States Postal Service should be ashamed of itself for not honoring America's most decorated hero with at least one commemorative stamp. Yet you have the audacity to commemorate a cartoon character with a stamp. For shame, just think about it. This action leaves me speechless, you should be embarrassed to no end!!! |
