Name Location Comments
Cliff Lachance, Veteran Orange, Texas Audie Murphy should be honored with an entire stamp series.
Darren Lambright Amarillo, Texas Audie Murphy should be honored with an entire stamp series.
Richard Lampke, Citizen Derby, New York Audie Murphy should be honored with an entire stamp series.
Tom Landrum, Police Officer Westmorland, California If stamps can be made of dogs, cats, flowers, etc., why not America's youngest and most decorated hero who gave his all during WWII? I feel this should be even more so than with most of our politicians, some who never saw military service or protested wars or "actions".
Richard Langis, Retired Navy Loudon, New Hampshire Audie was the last true American Hero. He is more deserving of a stamp than most of the entertainers who are currently on our postage stamps. Please issue a collection of stamps with Audie Murphy's short life portrait on them. Our children are in dire need of an American Hero.
Nancy Lankas, Educator Albany, Ohio As an educator, I am very concerned about the individuals today's students have to emulate. Audie Murphy rose above poverty, had solid ideals which he acted upon, gladly served in the Armed Forces where he consistently placed himself in mortal danger to uphold the ideals our country was founded upon and went "public" with his addiction and resulting stress from military service in order to assist others who suffered from the same difficulties. If he is not the epitome of the "American" there is none. Wouldn't it be fitting to introduce this quiet hero to the youth of today so they could be exposed to a real "hero"? I think so!
Nancy Lankford, Citizen Waltham, Massachusetts Audie Murphy should be honored on a commemorative stamp.
Gary LaPatra Watertown, New York Audie Murphy should be honored on a commemorative stamp.
Douglas M. LaRock Phoenix, Arizona Audie Murphy should be honored on a commemorative stamp.
David Lawrence, Professional Taylor, Texas Gentlemen, I think its stupid not to honor Audie.
Karen Lawson ????, Tennessee Audie Murphy should be honored with an entire stamp series.
Wendy Lau Lodi, California Please, if Sylvester and Tweety can have a stamp then our great American hero Audie Murphy must have one!
Bob Leaberry, Professional Gambrils, Maryland Can you really think of any with better credentials than Audie Murphy?
Derek Leaberry, Blue Collar Worker Queenstown, Maryland Audie Murphy was a much better American than Elvis Presley, the Mummy, Wolfman, and most other personages the post office has put on stamps.
Jerry Leatherman Carrollton, Ohio I think this stamp is long overdue, for a man who risked his life to help keep his country a free nation.
Patti E. Lee, Patriot Fontana, California Audie Murphy should be honored with an entire stamp series.
Tommy Lee, Veteran Victoria, Texas Audie Murphy served his nation proudly. Your boss (slick Willie) is a disgrace to all of us that served. It is imperative that you do the right thing.
Vincent Lee, Movie Fan Burlington, New Jersey Audie Murphy should be honored on a commemorative stamp.
Don E. Leidecker, Retired Army Ashland, Kentucky Surely this request will be honored. It should have had a much higher priority than the likes of Elvis Presley, etc. Please give this your utmost consideration.
Todd Leiss, Civil Servant Hershey, Pennsylvania Audie Murphy should be honored with an entire stamp series.
Raymond P. Lentz, Retired Air Force Melbourne, Florida Audie Murphy should be honored with an entire stamp series.
Richard D. Leonhardt, Citizen Quincy, California Audie Murphy should be honored with an entire stamp series.
Major Gary R. Leopold, Retired Army Huntsville, Alabama Audie Murphy should be honored on a commemorative stamp.
Carolyn & Dan Lequerica Stockton, California We think that Audie Murphy was one of our country's real heroes and deserves to be recognized with an entire stamp series. He was certainly more important than Bugs Bunny!
Leslie ????, California Audie Murphy is a true American War Hero. I feel that it is a shame that Mr. Murphy has not yet been honored with a stamp.
Edward Lesnick Hilton Head Island, South Carolina The bible says that there is no greater gift than to lay down your life for your friends. Audie's act of unselfish heroism to protect his men certainly falls within that credo. All Americans should look to its true heroes as a guide instead of the products of Hollywood, television, and sports.
John L. Letherby, Retired Army Lodi, California I believe a great injustice is done to one of our country's greatest heroes when the USPS continually ignores to honor Audie L. Murphy while issuing a commemorative stamp with the image of "Bugs Bunny". The USPS should hang its collective head in shame. Now is the time for the USPS to wake up and, in the spirit of patriotism, honor First Lieutenant Audie L. Murphy, a true American hero.
Michael M. Leumer, Retired National Guard Elkhart, Indiana How can the USA continue to ignore the USA's most decorated soldier and other CMH winners? Maybe a series of winners from 1860's to present.
Dick Lewis, Veteran Rockford, Illinois Audie Murphy should be honored with an entire stamp series.
Scott Lewis, Active Army Ozark, Alabama Audie Murphy's exploits are the epitomy of what we in the military hope we can live up to when our nation calls.
Howard Liebeskind, Fan San Bruno, California Audie Murphy should be honored with an entire stamp series.
Dennis Lieburn, Veteran Leesburg, Georgia Audie Murphy should be honored on a commemorative stamp.
Randy Lightle Centreville, Virginia As a Vietnam War veteran, I think it is appalling that the most decorated US combatant of WWII does not have a commemorative stamp in his honor. Please correct this travesty.
Erik Lind, War Veteran Cincinnati, Ohio It is long over due to honor one of America's finest.
Gary Lind, Veteran Nantucket, Massachusetts As a hero and role model of historical proportions, Audie Murphy's memory should be preserved with an entire stamp series based on his remarkable achievements as a combat soldier and a true American.
Nadia Lind Calgary Alberta, Canada Audie Murphy should be honored on a commemorative stamp.
William C. Lingard, Citizen (Not Given) I am sure that sometime in the future either you or one of your successors will commemorate the current occupant of the white house, a person who is not fit to shine the shoes of Audie Murphy.
Richard J. Link, War Veteran Scottsdale, Arizona As a war veteran myself, I think that by not honoring Mr. Murphy you are showing the people of this great country that "cartoon characters" are more important than people that have not only showed such great bravery, but risked their lives so that we may be free.
Chris Hall Linka, Author Ontario, Canada Audie Murphy should be honored on a commemorative stamp.
Amy M. Liposky Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania Audie Murphy should be honored with an entire stamp series.
Chris L. Litsey, Patriot San Jose, California Audie Murphy should be honored with an entire stamp series.
LtCol Phillip E. Litts, Retired Air Force Lodi, California Audie Murphy should be honored with an entire stamp series.
Barry Loar Lancaster, Pennsylvania Audie Murphy should be honored with an entire stamp series.
Bill Lofton, War Veteran Pensacola, Florida I am a Texan by birth and have been an admirer and fan for all of my life. To not have a stamp with Audie Murphy on it is a disgrace for this country's veterans and its citizens. Act now and do not let this error continue.
Tony Lombardi Petaluma, California How can you not honor this nation's most decorated war hero and wonderful movie star?
Larry Longacre, Veteran Garland, Texas Audie Murphy is a hero to millions. No one deserves a stamp more than Audie Murphy!!
John E. Long, Professional Apopka, Guam Audie Murphy should be honored on a commemorative stamp.
Scotty Longacre, Veteran Mesquite, Texas Audie Murphy SHOULD be honored with an entire stamp series. Period!
Patrick A. Looney, Retired Army Brown Mills, New Jersey I find it hard to believe that Audie Murphy hasn't already been honored by a stamp series. If Bugs Bunny, Elvis Presley, Marilyn Monroe can be honored it is a disgrace that a true American Hero is on the back burner.
Jay Loughney, White Collar Worker ???, Pennsylvania Saw an article in the Philadelphia Enquirer on this subject. Sunday, 24 May 98. I remember seeing "To Hell and Back" when I was 10 and still remember it 22 years later. The stamp series is a great idea. Good luck.
