There are Generals on stamps that never got close to being a hero
like Audie Murphy. But because they were Generals we stuck their faces
on stamps. Let's remember a real common man--turn hero in his own right--on
a series of stamps. Let's show Audie Murphy that his valor was recognized
by America and is not forgotten.

I fully support this petition. I'm sure if Elvis could get on a stamp then
Audie should by far have gotten one. Also, I think Audie should be considered
for a US currency picture. I think he should replace Hamilton.

Dear Sir,
Audie Murphy should be honored with a stamp like the rest of our nation's
heroes. There are many people who do not know who he is or what he did for
our country. He should be honored with a commemorative stamp at least.

Lt. Audie L. Murphy deserves this honor. His contribution to the successful
liberation of Europe was inspiring, to say the least, and was instrumental in
bringing the war to a successful conclusion. I think it might be a good idea
to start a series of stamps to commemorate all of the Medal of Honor winners
from all the wars, individually.

I think it's a shame when an overweight, pill popping Elvis can be honored
with a postal stamp or a damn cartoon bunny, but one of the greatest soldiers
this world has ever seen has yet to be recognized. It truly makes me sick.

I feel it an insult to the memory of this great AMERICAN that you would not
see fit to issue a commemorative or series of stamps in his honor. Mr. Murphy
was and is an inspiration to true Americans and should be remembered as such!!!
You should be ashamed for not recognizing the need for honoring this great
individual and all other members of the most elite veterans of the United
States Military Service.

It is a sad state of affairs when our country will put cartoons and rock stars
on commemorative postage stamps, but will not honor one who has sacrificed so
much for this great country. It is time that we returned to the values that
made this country great and instill those values in the upcoming generation.
Let us not forget those who sacrificed so that we might enjoy the priveleges
that they have fought and died for.

Even though I am a distant fan from Australia, no other American has captured
my imagination the way Audie Murphy has. As a child I was besotted by his
charisma and as an adult I cherish his memory. I think this man was as great
as Elvis Presley, if not greater, and deserves his memory to be enshrined by
a stamp collection made in his honour.

Audie Murphy was the man that I was introduced to in old periodicals during
Vietnam. With all the protests and upheaval within the nation, Audie Murphy
was held up as a guide or example to follow. I was only 10 years old when he
died, but my grandparents made sure I knew about him and his ability to
persevere in life when all odds were against him. Today I am a disabled
citizen of this nation and I frequently think of Audie Murphy and what he
went through in WWII. His life has given me the will to continue and try to
do more even when everyone else has given up. This country needs to
recognize men and women who are like Audie Murphy in order to help our youth
see real hero's, a person who was willing to give all or die in order to help
his fellow soldier and fellow man. Please recognize Mr. Murphy for his
contribution to society and the world in the name of duty, honor, and scacrifice.

I believe that it is vital that America honor her heroes and present her
children with appropriate role models. The commemorative stamp program is an
ideal means to accomplish both goals. We have had stamps honoring movie
stars and cartoon characters. Why not a stamp to honor a true American hero,
Audie Murphy?

Audie Murphy is a true American hero. If we can issue stamps for cultural
icons, musicians, and movies, why not a real American GI who risked his life
to spread freedom in the world and made us all stand tall?
