We have had stamps for many stars, birds, flowers, etc. Audie Murphy
deserves the honor with an entire stamp series. As a War Hero, the best
of the best, and as a wonderful actor!!!!! Through his courage he gave
of himself, asking nothing in return. It is time that we of the United
States salute him and never let his memory fade away. By honoring him
with a stamp series, we can forever remember this outstanding soldier.
God bless Audie Murphy.

Our country is losing sight of its true American heroes. Today's younger
generation are losing sight of what our country has been built on. The
blood, sweat, and tears of great men such as Audie Murphy, who have
contributed to the arts and to our nation's freedom. What does it take
to give a man a stamp in recognition of all his contributions throughout
his years to our nation.

I think it is funny that the USPS would honor John Lennon on a stamp and
not Murphy. Audie risked his life so the Postmaster General would have
a job and John Lennon was against war and not even from this country. I
am against war but if I was called to defend my country, I would go and
fight. I would not try to dodge my country's request like so many did
in the 60's including Mr. Lennon.

Mr. Postmaster, I am a junior in high school. I don't know much about
life and all that, but I do know that Audie Murphy was a damn good American.
He should be honored with an entire stamp series. Most people my age

hat goes off to Audie.

I am currently in the United States Army stationed at Fort Stewart, home
of the 3d Infantry Division since April 1996. Audie L. Murphy was part
of the Marne Division's history and myself and others are honored to
wear the same patch he did. He was the most decorated soldier in American
history. I am also a postal clerk and noticed that many people who did
less things are honored with stamps. Some people I have never heard of
before. Audie Murphy should be honored with an entire stamp series.

If this true American Hero cannot have his image on a U.S. Postage stamp,
then who else is qualified? If his accomplishments mean nothing then
whose do? Without a stamp for Audie Murphy, who earned this honor on the
battlefield, I suggest that all other stamp images be deleted and
replaced with the numerical cost of the stamp.

I've learned a lot from my friend, Sue Gossett, who wrote a book on Audie.
Audie is the type of American Hero who deserves recognition on a stamp ...
we put cartoon characters on stamps (i.e. Bugs Bunny), a hero like Audie
deserves much more recognition than that.

I was shocked to learn that Audie Murphy, one of the bravest and most
unselfish Americans ever, has yet to be honored with a commemorative
stamp. This oversight is distressing. When at a time so many in the
public eye are so clearly most concerned with self, it is of utmost
importance to honor the memory of one who repeatedly put others before
himself. We Americans should aspire to the greatest among us, and Audie
Murphy symbolizes greatness as really no other in American history. Please
right this horrible wrong.

To understand where we are as a country, we need to understand where we
have been and the sacrifices and accomplishments of those who went before
us. It would be most appropriate to honor Audie Murphy with a postage
stamp to remind the present generation of Americans of the valor and
humanity of those who fought during World War II, and a stamp honoring
Audie Murphy would do that.

Audie Murphy, a war veteran the likes of which we have never seen before,
and probably will never see again, should be recognized in a stamp series
if for nothing else, for what he's done for our freedom in this country.
Heroism like his should not go unrewarded. He entertained us in the movies,
as a songwriter as well as a writer of poetry. If we can put Marily Monroe
and Elvis Presley on a stamp, we can put someone the magnitude of Audie
Murphy, who not only acted in movies, but fought for our freedom in WWII.
It's not asking too much in comparison for what he did for us.

this country who denies Audie his rightful place among our nation's
honored servicemen.
