Its hard to believe that Bugs Bunny, M. Monroe, and Bela Legosi have
stamps, but not Audie Murphy. Somebody hasn't got their priorities
straight.

I would like to see a whole series of Medal of Honor winners. Ernie
Pyle would also be a consideration for WWII personalities.

This American Hero should have been honored long before he lost his life.
This country can never do enough for our war heroes, and a stamp is a
very little thing compared to what he was owed. If Elvis can have one,
so should Audie Murphy.

Audie Murphy is indeed my greatest hero of all time. As a squad leader
in today's Army, I try to model myself after this great man. I would be
honored to help with the stamp petition anyway I can. I am also a candidate
for the Sergeant Audie Murphy Club here at Fort Lewis, WA. I think that this
well deserved honor is long overdue, and that it's about time we start honoring
those who put their lives on the line in order to preserve freedom that so
many take for granted today.

Elvis my ass. It would be a breath of fresh air to see a Government agency
do the right thing for a change without the rest of us having to 'twist
their arm' for decades. Perhaps someday we could issue a series of stamps
on a prominent American draft dodgers, your current Boss chief among them.
Get with the program, Mr. Runyon

I can think of no other person who has earned the right to be honored
in such a fashion. In this age of rampant liberalism, your predecessor
included, the memory of heroes are soiled by those who never aspire to
valor, patriotism, and honor. Audie Murphy stands next to Sgt. York,
Gen. Chesty Puller, Gen. Patton, and Teddy Roosevelt in the annals of
the history of the greatest of all countries. A picture on a stamp is
the least we can do.

The US Postal Service is running out of excuses on this one. Let's honor
one of the most famous United States servicemen with a series of
commemorative US Postal stamps. He was a very talented person and saved
many lives during his tour.

Audie Murphy was one of our country's greatest heroes. To have a stamp
for this gentleman would only be fitting, for he gave so much to our
country. There are stamps on other individuals that gave much less.
Lets set things straight and do what is right and honorable for this
great American hero, lest he and what he did be forgotten by the younger
generations to come. Look at Gen. McArthur ... he gets a medal for
escaping from the Phillipines? Big deal! How many bullets did he
dodge during WWII? And some of the other big brass, they get stamps
and medals for things soldiers like Audie Murphy did. Even Gen. Ike
who never fired a shot at the enemy in any war gets his due. Now its
time the real soldiers that did the fighting and the dying get what
should always have been theirs. For without them, this country would
not be. Great book to read is "Citizen Soldier". Read it!!

It would be particularly appropriate to honor Mr. Murphy with a
commemorative stamp in the brief time remaining before the last of our
World War II veterans passes away. No other military person in this
country's history has received the decorations of valor awarded to Audie
Murphy. His achievements are all the more remarkable given his youth and
the disadvantages of his early years. At a time when service to our
country has come under disrepute, we should honor a man who served and
sacrificed for his country.
