Patriot Hall Memorial Marker dedication with Pamela Archer Murphy
Supervisor Kenneth Hahn and
Pamela Archer Murphy
From the Los Angeles Times, circa June 3, 1971:

PATRIOTIC HALL TO GET PLAQUE FOR MURPHY.

"Patriotic Hall at 1816 S. Figueroa St., will be the site of a special county plaque dedicatd to the memory of Audie Murphy, America's most decorated hero of World War II.

On a motion yesterday by Supervisor Kenneth Hahn, chairman of the Veterans and Military Affairs Department, the supervisors ordered a plaque placed on the main floor of the county-owned facility some time in the near future.

The war hero-actor died Friday along with five others in a plane crash near Roanoke, VA.

'Audie Murphy was an outstanding American who served his country well," said Hahn, "and it is only fitting that a plaque be placed in his memory at Patriotic Hall.'

Hahn's motions also included an order lowering flags at the hall and the Coliseum Sports Arena to half staff until after the funeral."
