"The header is interpretted as follows: CFM VO CINC TX NG 1 July 1957 translates to 'Confirming verbal order of the Commander-In-Chief Texas National guard 1 July 1957'. Captain Jack Fisher, the other officer referred to in the orders, was at that time the Adjutant and S-1 (the Personnel Officer) of the 2d Battalion, 141st Infantry. The order promotes Captain Fisher to the position of Executive Officer, 2d Battalion, 141st Infantry." "VICE Audie Murphy means that Major Murphy is being replaced by Fisher. Major Murphy is being placed on an inactive status with the Texas National Guard. This would normally indicate that Audie no longer attended unit drills with the Texas National Guard although he would still be considered a member." The authority for the orders comes from National Guard Regulation #20-3 and the orders are published by the Office of the Adjutant General for the Texas State Governor. The signature block of M.L. Brent, Major General, Adjutant General for the state of Texas appears at the bottom of the orders. This set of orders is found at Camp Mabry in Austin, Texas. Camp Mabry is the official home of the Texas National Guard.
