Audie L. Murphy Memorial Website Message Boards

It was reported in the Jan./Feb. 2012 issue of Western Clippings that Lillian Adams, 89, died May 25, 2011 in the in the Motion Picture home in Woodland, CA. She appeared with Audie in "The Wild and the Innocent." Getting to be fewer and fewer people left who worked with Audie in the films. It mentioned that she had appeared in some TV western episodes of, "Have Gun Will Travel", "The Rebel", "Big Valley", and "Little House On The Prairie".

I searched her name on imdb.com. She started in movies in 1958 and made her last appearance last year in 2010 in a TV Series Parks and Recreation.

I can't place her in THE WILD AND THE INNOCENT. You're right about more and more of his co stars are passing on.

I can't place her either. I'll have to watch the movie and see if I can recognize her. Here is her photo. Don't know her age in the photo, but she's no spring chicken in this picture.

Her character's name for Wild and the Innocent is Kiri Hawks, which sounds like she would be the aunt (uncle's Indian wife) of Yancey Hawks (Audie Murphy). The shape of the face looks about right in the one picture Bob linked to, but of course she looks very different with blonde hair and without the "brownface" makeup effect.

That's a bummer-the Wild and the Innocent was one of the first three Audie Murphy films I bought for myself, when I first started collecting his movies a year ago, and I remember looking up some of the cast and being pleased that the woman playing the aunt was still with us.

blonde hair, right away I thought of the lady that ran the casino for the sheriff. It may not be her but she sure looks like her... Just my thoughts... Shirley Jean.

You're right, she does look a lot like the "madame." I was just going by the movie credits (actor name to character name) but they have been known to be wrong.
