Jan Merlin has endorsed the petition for Audie. Mr. Merlin attached a typed letter as well outlining his career and his association with Audie.
I am very pleased to have his endorsement.

Thanks Christie for throwing out his name!

Wow! Super letter, thanks for sharing. The powers that be to determine who gets the PMoF will have to be extremely insensitive to pass Audie up with all the petitions you have gotten. Let's hope they get it right!

If Audie doesn't get this medal, then they need to do away with the award. I doubt if there has ever been a recepient more deserving than Audie Murphy.

Truly a great and gracious response. I am sorry to hear about his health problems.

Thanks everyone for your words of encouragement. I hope you all don't mind that I answer some of these general comments en masse rather than individually, it just seems easier that way.
I do always appreciate the comments and enjoy reading them.

I meet Mr. Merlin a few years ago at the Williamsburg Film Festival. He was very nice and a true gentleman. I asked him about his thoughts of his co-star Audie Murphy. He told me that Audie a man that had a lot of confidence but was not truely given credit for his talents. I wish that I had more time to spend listening to his stories.

Yes Michael, he is a nice man. I met him in Charlotte in 2007!

Thanks,

Dave

Hi Dave,
I wonder what the third film was to have been? Would have liked to have known, and probably
way to many years now have passed that even Mr. Merlin would remember....
Just my thoughts... Shirley Jean.

Interesting thought. Maybe I can pose that question to him when I return!

Thanks

Dave
