Minor update on Battle at Bloody Beach dvd: a second review states that it has both an English track with permanent French subtitles and a French language track, but that the French language version of the film is two minutes shorter. Not important, just interesting to note in passing that the film was apparently edited on its original release in France for some reason.

More interesting news: 7 Ways from Sundown, coming to French dvd late this November. No technical details yet. http://www.amazon.fr/Sept-chemins-du-co ... 307&sr=1-1

The French are releasing a BlueRay (more advanced dvd) version of The Unforgiven in February: http://www.amazon.fr/Vent-Plaine-Blu-ra ... 0SDWMHD9K7

I don't know all that much about how the region thing works in BlueRay, so I do not recommend that people outside Europe/Britain/Australia buy this unless they really do their homework and know for a fact that their machines can play it. But like Seven Ways From Sundown and some of the others, it's cool in the sense that someone, somewhere likes Murph's films enough to do this, and maybe it's a sign that we will get these over here.

I finally broke down and bought the French Seven Ways from Sundown and Guns of Fort Petticoat. Petticoat is certainly better than the unofficial dvd I bought off ebay when I first discovered Murph, with very nice audio, but the picture is a bit soft. Sundown claims on the box that it's been digitally restored, and it certainly looks nice: a hair less good than my British dvd of Bullet for a Badman or my German dvd of Hell-Bent for Leather, but by far the best of the French Murphy dvds I own.

Dangit, I ignore the French dvd releases for a couple of months and suddenly they decide to start putting out Murph movies again. As always, these are Pal R2 dvds-if you are in America or Australia/New Zealand, research your equipment very carefully before attempting to buy these.

Gunpoint is out already, only legit dvd release that I know of: http://www.amazon.fr/Parole-est-au-Colt ... 355&sr=1-4

Tumbleweed also appears to be out-again, nobody else has released yet: http://www.amazon.fr/Qui-est-tra%C3%AEt ... 355&sr=1-1

Gunsmoke is coming! Gunsmoke is coming! holy moly: http://www.amazon.fr/Le-tueur-du-montan ... 355&sr=1-2

(you can't tell that "Le Tueuer de Montana" is Gunsmoke from that page, but I did a bit of homework on the web to determine what it was).

Agreed, but it's still good to see the interest.
