Description: Audie Murphy was buried beneath an oak tree at Arlington National Cemetery with full military honors. An estimated crowd of 400 was in attendance. In attendance was General William C. Westmoreland, Army Chief of Staff; presidential military aide Lieutenant Colonel Vernon Coffee; George Bush, ambassador at large to the United Nations; Lieutenant Joseph Hooper, Medal of Honor recipient and pall bearer; and Marty Benson, a goateed race horse handler and pallbearer.
