If Celia Cruz gets her portrait hung in the Smithsonian over Audie,
this country is in serious trouble. Can anyone justify this person
even being considered? This just baffles me.

Audie has gone from 65% down to 39% in just two days. This
singer has climbed to 36% in just the same period. We need
more help. I've sent emails to everyone on my contact list and
will now go to friends.

Audie has gone from 65% down to 42% in just two days. This

I completely agree.

Fact: Audie was 66% two days ago.
    Fact: Audie is 42% now
Fact: Audie will be trailing tomorrow, based on this trend.

Come on, gang, we have to revote and recontact our friends and mailing list. I will be doing this again today. We need the help of the public, so anyone that can get a quick comment in a friendly community's newspaper or website is going to make money.

Please do the following ...
This vote will end in 10 days. The slide has to be stopped now.

I just had a ton of students vote for Audie. We pushed the vote up to 42% but shortly afterwards, it fell back to 41%. This means there is a concerted effort going on behalf of Cella Cruz.

We really need to get some large groups of veterans or other interested parties (schools) interested in this.

If you want to revote, I have found out that by going to your browser menu on explorer, and dumping the Internet cookies and temporary files you can revote on a new day. (On Internet Explorer: go to the menu, then select ... Tools/Internet Options/Delete After you delete, revisit the voting page. If you are still seeing the percentages, try the next day. Beyond this, you can revote if you find a new computer OR you find new folks who haven't voted at all.

Well, I looks like Cruz will close the gap and overtake Audie despite our efforts. My problem with Cruz is she should be in a music hall of fame, not in the Smithsonian. She apparently is a "cultural icon" but she is not a historical figure.

My efforts will continue until it is finished.

Right now Cruz is 3% behind Audie.

It's hard to compete against straight entertainers.

I don't believe this is tough to do IF we can get the community of Northeast Texas behind us... and the Herald-Banner, I think, is the key. This is what has happened on Ms. Cruz.

I did a google search on her name and discovered there are several newspapers in the Latino community that are pushing for her vote. We aren't going to beat this if we can't do the same.

But the good news is that there aren't that many votes coming in. If there were thousands, we would have already been blown off the percentage charts. This doesn't have to be over yet. It's taken her three days to capture the lead.

In the meantime, I emailed Brad Kellar and Carol Ferguson with the Greenville, Herald Banner... two staunch and long time Audie Murphy writers for the Herald-Banner] and asked them for help. I wish I knew somebody with the Farmersville Times ... can somebody try to get them?

I also emailed the American Legion. I contacted them through a public relations - contact page off their website.

It would be great if we could get a popular radio station in the Greenville area to broadcast the message ... it's probably too much to expect though.

Except for spamming one more time, I don't know what else I can do. We need the Northeast Texas communities to throw their collective weight into this effort.

I called the Audie Murphy Middle School today and talked to the principal's secretary. She is going to talk to the principal about helping us. She is also going to contact the Ft. Hood SAMC to help us too. Hope we can get a lot of votes there.

What a GREAT idea! Thanks Betty. Right now, Audie is now trailing too. We need the entire Fort Hood Community to helps us.

Has anyone contacted the Fort Sill SAMC whose members came to Audie Murphy Days in April?

Maybe they can contact the other SAMC chapters around the country.

I am not technology savvy enough to make much difference in this regard.

At 10;57 this morning it's Audie 33% to Celia 47%.

One thing I don't understand is why the SI blog where you go to vote has not been updated since May 16th which was Thursday. Audie is still at 22% and Celia Cruz at 68%. Does that mean Audie has not gotten any more votes in the last 4 days? This whole thing is screwy and makes no sense to me.
