After a long, arduous trip by ship from Camp Kilmer, New Jersey, Private
Murphy has just arrived at Port Lyautey, North Africa near the famous city
Cassablanca. He reports to a replacement inprocessing center and is assigned
to the 3rd Infantry Division. He is pleased to discover that he is being
sent to an Infantry Regiment. Private Murphy is assigned to the 3rd Platoon
of Baker Company, 15th Infantry Regiment. Soon after he arrives, he is
taunted for his youthfulness and told to conduct an open ranks inspection
of the platoon. Audie does so with great professionalism and manages to
turn the tables on those that made fun of him.
