Staff Sergeant Murphy and his best friend, played by Charles Drake, have
just attacked a Nazi position on top of a hill. The German soldiers wave a
white flag of surrender and Charles Drake decides to leave the safety of
his covered position behind a log. Staff Sergeant Murphy yells at his friend
to get down but it is too late and the Nazi soldiers begin firing again
hitting Charles Drake.
In a rare display of uncontrollable anger, Staff Sergeant Murphy "loses it"
and charges up the hill and single-handedly wipes out all of the machinegun
nests and snipers that still infest the position.
(Historical Note: This incident actually occurred on the first day of the
invasion of Southern France by the 3rd Infantry Division.)
